A pair of '06 Mustangs (finished legend lime version)

Hi,

Here's one in Tamiya's metallic red, and another in Cobra Colors Legend Lime.

Nice job, looks great.

Having built 1.5 of these myself, what did you do to lower it and what are the front tires from? I was very disappointed w/the stock tires, looks like you used the rears but some lower profile rubber in front.

BTW, there are two decals (#4) that are meant to go on the sun visors. There's another small round one that goes on the oil cap. The instructions in the kit were miserable, but the kit sure was a fun build. I think I'm going to do a road racer and paint it w/Legend Lime to match my Ford GT.

Wow! The wheels themselves don't look that bad, MX-5 what did you find wrong with them?

Great stance! Boy this is fun watching all of these '06s about come out!

The wheels are fine (though I like both of the other wheels offered on the GT better than these) but the tires are awful-they have zero sidewall engraving, they don't look realistic. They could have engraved some lines and lettering on there to at least look like a normal tire, instead they simply gave up when they wouldn't pay licensing fees for tires (which I applaud them for...greedy tire companies make me sick).

awsome build Bluemoose. i'm also planning on using Cobra Colors Legend Lime on mine. finally got the kit today.

I'm gonna search my parts box this weekend to find some better tires. although I'm planning on using the rims from the kit i've done a little research. it looks like the Rims out of the PL 04 GTO are very close to the other GT wheels. and the other Rims available to the Mustang are just standard Torque Thrust style.

Maisto has a new 1/24 scale '06 Mustang GT with the other (bigger/new for '06) GT wheels-in pics they look correct in design and size. The PL GTO rims will look too small on this kit-they're 17's and the new GT rims are 18's, the model will dwarf those wheels. The Revell GT rims are .785" in diameter, the PL GTO rims are .73" diameter. The 1/24 Maisto Mustang concept CV rims look great-they're larger than the Revell wheels but the same design-but they're too big for the Revell kit and look goofy on it.

yea your right about the other wheels, although the Maisto also does'nt have any sidewall detail.

Superb... But I agree that the panel lines need to be scribed out.. With the number of coats I apply with Primer, top and sometimes clear I'll bury them for sure..

Still nicely done, and that engine bay looks great. This does look a good kit..

Re: A pair of '06 Mustangs

Very nice!

The green seems more popular with modelers than buyers.
The plated kit wheels looked quite flat but appear to have a bit more depth when re-finished.

Re: A pair of '06 Mustangs

ZoomZoomMX-5, Thanks for the decal info.

I took an easy way out to get the stance. To lower the front, I switched to the front rubber from Revell's C6 Corvette (those tires will fit the Mustang wheels with on a little trimming of the wheel), and then I positioned the wheels all the way up against the inner fender. I had to do a little trimming of the inner fender because of the wide Corvette tires. To lower the rear, I used the Mustang rubber, but I carved out about the top half of the inner fender so I could mount the wheels high enough to get the ride height down. I didn't take the time to do the suspension changes that would be needed.

Also, Ferrari TR, I painted the rims with MCW semi-gloss clear to tone down the kit chrome.
