Hello, I just registered and own a 1998 grand prix with 131k miles.

My question is what size wheels/tires/rims can I fit on my car? I need some help picking out what size wheels/tires/rims would fit on my car (lug nut size, bolt pattern, etc). If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The bolt pattern is 5 x 115mm. What is your current wheel and tire size?

It would be extremely helpful if some ppl could post here the wheel sizes that have fit well on their 97-03 Grand Prix. Especially those with lowering springs.

I would appreciate any tips on the ideal wheel offset and wheel width that fit best on your car. I am looking to switch to a 245/45-18 tire size.

I’m bumping this thread to get some attention. From the best of my online research, this is what I know so far.

The original wheel and tire info as per what I have found online is …
Wheel = 16x6.5 +38mm offset.
Tire = P225 60-16
( For a 97-03 GP)
Since the wheel info didn’t come from GM itself, there is a slight chance it might be wrong. That’s why I am posting here for help.

Anyway, if you guys know of any wheel sizes, with tires that fit well under the car, I appreciate your help... ( Tire size plus wheel size as per above.)


Oh, and anything you know about “rolling fenders” would be cool too.

i put 17X6.5 on my 01 gt and it lowered it 1.7". if you dont get lo-pro tires you will have to do some fender mods. i will check what tire size i got- the 17" fill the wheel well much better then the 16", specially after the 1.7" drop.

I plan on adding wheels to my 04' gtp after the 1st of the year(tax season), I'm going to go with 17X7.5 wheels...

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. I will not be using low profile tires. I want to maintain the same original outside tire diameter, so the speedo doesn’t suffer.

I’ve about talked myself out of 18” wheel/tires. I’m pretty sure I’m going to go back to 17” too. I have some 17” wheel info. I’ll post it here after work.

If you planned on using the 245/45-18 tire/wheel combo, it should fit as long as the aftermarket wheel has the proper offset.

The stock tire width (footprint) is around 8.86". A 245 tire has around 9.65". That's less than a one inch difference. The diameter of stock is 26.83". 245/45 - 18 should have 26.68" so its a very close match. When the speedo reads 65, the car will actually be going approx. 65.2 mph. Plus the aspect ratio (tire height) is acceptable and they look good without having a SUV appearance.
