Wireless headphone part number for 2002

Can someone tell me the part number for the wireless headphones for a 2002 pontiac montana with montanavision. Apparently the part number is inside the lid of the battery compartment.

I have the same vehicle, I will check the number for you.. I also believe that regular wireless headphones will work as well. Maybe cheaper than the dealer?

Re: Re: Wireless headphone part number for 2002

I was given a number where you could order the headphones and the replacement foam covers direct from the manufacturer. I don't have it here at work, but I'll try to find it tonight and post it.

I believe you could also order the remote control through them.

My Montana is a 2003 Montanavision, but I think it is the same DVD system.

Can either of you do me a favor then? My 2003 does not have a speaker behind the grill right behind the LCD screen (by the overhead lights). I've read where GM removed that it save money, but don't know when they removed it. If they removed it in 2003, I'm going to see if I can install it because it can be hard to hear the movies.

Could you see if you have a speaker there? On my 2003, you can just shine a flashlight through it and if you can see the paint of the bottom of the roof, there's nothing there! Seems pretty cheap of GM to eliminate the center speaker....especially since from 2002 to 2003 they removed the following to save money, I guess:

- Second horn (only has a single tone)
- Went from 4 to 2 wireless headphones
- Removed the side cargo nets
- ?? who knows what else....

Thanks! Glen

Re: Wireless headphone part number for 2002

I bought a "quick reference guide" for the Montanavison system when I bought a manual for my van. It is a two-sided laminated sheet that honestly isn't worth the $5 or so I paid, but I didn't know that when I ordered it.

Anyway, in the lower right hand corner it says "Note: To order additional cordless headphones directly from the U.S. supplier call 1-888-293-3332."

I seem to remember that I called them to check prices on replacement foam covers, and they weren't too bad on prices. Not sure on the headphones, but I seem them on Ebay occasionally so you could compare prices that way.

I'm curious to hear what you find out, so please post back.....Thanks, Glen

The GM number inside the battery cover is M-GMCWA973-AXXX. I think this should help, if not let me know.

Keith,

Would you mind shining a flashlight up at the speaker grill behind the video screen on your van and see if there is a center speaker there? I'd appreciate it a lot!

Thanks a lot!!! I've been trying to verify this for a long time. My 2003 does not have the center speaker, and I suspect Pontiac got rid of it to save a little money (or I just happened to have a van that they forgot to install it - unlikely). But I suspect it can be added fairly cheaply and it should help the sound out (the kids have a hard time hearing the voices on the movies).

Now if I can just find out the part number. I figure it has to be available separately from the monitor - I can't believe you'd have to replace the whole monitor assembly just to replace a bad speaker.

Thanks again! Glen

New member here, my first post. I have a 2001 Montana with the VCP MontanaVision. Did the 2001 MontanaVision use the same wireless headphones that the 2002-2003 use?

Tracy,

Hope this isn't too late....I think the 2003 DVD system uses different headphones than the VCP system....Glen
