Exclamation Black/red paint - does it exist?

I'm looking for a red paint, so dark that it's black from a distance, but red when you get close to it. Ideally, I'd like it to be black when looking at it and blood red under a light source. I don't know if this is possible from one paint or if it would need to be a colour change paint. I know I have seen this before, but cannot remember where. I've seen a few paint chips that match this, but always turn out to be purple when I get a larger sample of it. Does anybody know of anything like this? Basecoat/clearcoat would be preferable, but I'm open to just about anything at this point. Any help would be appreciated with this. Thanks in advance.

Re: Black/red paint - does it exist?

I saw a pretty neat effect where a driver used black basecoat with candy red clearcoat. It made a pretty dramatic difference. From a distance it looked black, but on the sharp edges where you could see through the clearcoat it was RED. Not my taste but it worked.

You could have a shop custom mix some really dark blood red paint.

Re: Black/red paint - does it exist?

Really Easy - If You Are Painting It Your Self, There Are Two Ways To Do It. Paint In Single Stage And Add Red Pearl To The Color.

My Favorite Is To Do Basecoat Clear Coat - Lay The Base Black Down And Add Red Pearl To The Clear, Then It Has A Super Cool Flip, So When You Look At It From An Angle It Will Glimmer Red, And When You Drive By The Car Will Go From Red To Black To Red, Really Cool Effect!

A Whole Bottle Of Pearl Is About $65.00 And Can Be Used In Paint Or Clear To Do A Couple Hundred Cars.

Have Fun,
Al
