Headlight Conversion???

Hi,
Well it looks like it's finally going to happen!
I'll be doing a "Straight Trade" for a 1992 Dodge stealth ES.
It has Pop-up headlights.
Is there a conversion kit to get rid of the Pop-ups and install those cool looking (3000GT like) headlights.
Any Links, info, comments would be GREATLY appreciated!

Roger

Re: Headlight Conversion???

My personal opinion... i love the 1st gen look its much more sportier... the second gen it too bubly and girly looking. i love my pop up head lights, because they have those little lences in the front so i can do the snake eyes conversion. and the cheapest head light conversion for the car is like... $3000

I'm WANTING the snake eyed version.
I'll try to look around the Web, to get my "verbage" right.

Re: Headlight Conversion???

the snake eyes is just a means of cutting on the lights without them popping up, not a different style of light... but to do that, you will need a first gen (91-93, pop-up style lenses)...

the pop-up headlights should come with the clear plastic piece that goes in front.

the snake eyes conversion is simply finding a way to illuminate this clear plastic piece (someitmes along with the fog lights) to give the appearance of snake eyes. there are several ways to do this. the easiest of which is just to place a jumper wire on a wire harness underneath the dash, so that when you turn your parking lights on, the headlights turn on in the down-position, thus illuminating the 'snake eyes' lens.

here's one description: http://www.3si.org/pages/snakeeyes1.html

EASIEST Method: http://techdata.mi3si.org/ -->Technical Info -->scrollw down to 'How To's' and click Snake Eyes. this shows via pix how to use the single jumper wire. i've done this one, its the easiest.

here's a more complicated method, but you achieve the same end: http://www.3si.org/pages/snakeeyes2.html

here's a 'Turning Snake Eyes Mod': http://www.vr4stealth.com/turning_snake_eyes.htm
