Well I sort of had a race

I tried racing my friends S10 the other day. He spun out at the beginning and I got a decent lead on him. I kept the gas pushed down and the car would not go to the next gear. It maxed out on the RPM gauge and car started hesitating. Why don't my car go to the next gear? Whenever I let of the gas for a second the car will go to the next gear, but when I don't it will max out the RPMs. Is it supposed to be like this? When I let of the gas I lose a lot of speed.

I also tried my luck at racing my other friends 2000 Grand Am. He talks a lot of crap about his car. I beat him of the line as well. I guess it is because I use the brake stand technique and he doesn't. But the same thing happened here as well.

well, the problem with your vehicle is it's a chevy.
the only way to fix this problem is to sell the thing and buy something that ISN'T a piece of shat.

actually, it is probably the modulator on your tranny. or your low on tranny fluid...really low.

I guess I can't really complain about my car, since I didn't pay for it. But my dad likes to buy GM cars. I am trying to get him to get something else for once, but it don't look like he is going to change for a while.

Thanks for the info though. I will look into it.
