You should take them out if they hurt, if not then just let em chill. My mom is about to get her's taken out, she's in her 50s and they barely started to hurt, while my brother got his taken out as soon as they came out because it was bothering him badly.

i got mine taken out when i was 15, it was well worth it. Didn't hurt at all, and got me out of school for a few days.

I'm 18 and i already have two top wisdom teeth which don't hurt at all. However I have one lower jaw wisdom tooth which looks to me to be fully grown.

Funny thing is however I went to sleep one night, and awoke with my gums hurting around the tooth. It's been about 4 days now, and I have been taking mad pain relievers. I think it'll go away though.

The only thing I'm worried about is the tooth pushing my teeth together. I don't have the best looking teeth already, so I don't want to F em' up anymore by having them all mashed together. What is it like $500 to get them pulled? Then you get the all the mind numbing Vicatin (sp?) you want

Re: Wisdom

I think the current "wisdom",(pardon the pun) among dentists is to leave them alone if they aren't causing any problems, just like your tonsils. Years ago it was common for doctors and dentists to do such removals even if it wasn't necessary. I don't hear of many wisdom teeth being removed anymore. I had mine removed over 20 years ago because they were growing somewhat sideways and would eventually impact ,(sorry for the other pun- "impact" as in impacted wisdom teeth ) my other teeth. I think the dentist evaluates each situation on a case by case basis. Mine cost $125 for each tooth to be removed back in 1982, so I can only imagine what the per tooth cost is nowadays I read somewheres years ago that the human jaw through evolution is getting smaller, thus in some cases there is no more room for wisdom teeth. And our diets have changed drastically since the caveman, and we no longer need those "extra" teeth for grinding our food. The article went on to say that thousands of years from now we may no longer even develop wisdom teeth, as part of our ever evolving body structure.

Re: Wisdom

If they're going to ruin the alignment of your other teeth, have them taken out. *

If you have room for them to come out, and they're aligned properly, no reason not to leave them in. *

Re: Wisdom

if they hurt, get rid of them. just talk to your dentist, get a refferal to an oral surgon, and go in for a consultation. you'll be out of it for a few days, but after a week or so, you're good as new.
