Completed: Subaru Impreza WRC Rally New Zealand 1999
When Possum Bourne died under tragic circumstances in 2003, I decided I had to build at least one of his cars, after all, the man drove Subaru's for 23 years in Rallies all over the world!
This model represents the car he drove on the 1999 Rally New Zealand to an 5th place finish. In 1993, Possum lost a good friend and co-driver named Rodger Freeth in an accident on Rally Australia and ever since then Possum's cars bore the licence plate (or derivatives thereof) 'ROJ' in memory of Rodger. I modified the kit to raise the suspension, added the Speedline wheels and modified the interior electronics tray by partially scratch-building it for added realism. Bodywork was slightly modified to better represent the car as it was raced, and decals from Studio27 were used for the race markings. I also added a lot of small details which will never actually be seen by the casual eye, but that's what I enjoy doing.

Great tribute!
I have that car and S27 decals here as well, but haven't started the kit as I'd like to get my hands on a correct set of wheels first. Where did you get these speedlines? Tim

As a New Zealander I think you couldnt have done a better job for a tribute to Possum. He was one of rallyings greatest personalities and is sorely missed still.
Amazing job on the model looks great,a real tribute! Regards WRCfan

Just one a side note the car you have built there is now changed into a 450-500BHP hill climb monster, Kenneth Erikkson drove it this year in a hillclimb event in the South Island of NZ. Car is still basically a WRC car, although little lighter and with incredible engine enhancements.

You've done a very good job on this car.
It means you were really motivated in doing a good tribute. I like the good a clear pait job and how you've made the antennas. Really a great model.

WRC Fan, I've seen the new livery ROJ bears, the silver/black looks absolutely awesome, I wish there was a decal set/trankit to build that car too.
