crx zc engine or b16?

I was lookin into gettin a crx with the zc engine or the b16. I didn't know which to get. How is the power on the zc. the zc is rated at 130 i think and the b16 at like 160. How well does the zc respond to mods? Would a zc in a crx be pretty fast stock? Is the b16 a lot more powerful? thanks.

pure speculation on my part since i dont drive either but supposedly the run about similar times but the b16a1 is alot more mod-able yet the zc has more torque so you choose

Motors

I just helped a friend put a B18a into his crx and thats what i'm goin to do. The B16a makes more horsepower compared to the B18a, but the B18a makes just about as much torque as it does horsepower. To me if your goin to swap a motor do atleast a B16a or bigger. If you don't have the cash than save up.

Known facts:
US Si (d16a6) - 108 HP
JDM Si (ZC) - 130-ish HP
JDM SiR (b16) - 160 HP w/ VTEC

Shawn's Opinion and best guesstimates:

US Si will run low-mid 16's with intake/header/good exhaust

ZCs will run mid-high 15's with I/H/E

b16s will run mid-high 14's with similar mods

More extensive tuning will yield better track times on all of the above. These are very general guidelines - there are always exceptions. for example - Vince (13secondcivic) had a 13 sec. d16a6 Si hatch, and another dude here (who shall remain nameless ) ran mid 16's I think with his ZC, due to crappy tires and too much of his life driving automatics

The b16 will definitely be faster...a few people have told me the butt dyno feeling when you go from stock to ZC, and then go from ZC to b16 is similar. Nothing beats vtec if you have the funds.

Son of a B#tch! haha Shawn you butt pilgrim. I ran a 16.5 with my ZC, it was my first time racing a manual trans, and my car is a pig "AC/Power steering and body kit" Most ZC's will run high 15"s.

I would go with the B16A1. Because there are more mods for it when compared with the ZC the torque doesn't real make a diff. when you can get the B16A1 and get a tranny with a LSD. My friend had the ZC and trade up for the B16A1 and got the tranny with the LSD the difference was HUGE. Besides on full inspection in the US you will probably fail.

OK dude...you'll notice at least I fixed my post to say mid 16's instead of "high"

We won't tell anyone what I ran with my stock DX 4-door, 1.5L - (18.078) :o

The auto completely drains the life out of the poor little Civic. I drove a friend's DX hatch ('91 with power steering, pansy!!!) and it was even slower than my heavier sedan. I feel really sorry for the 4-door peeps with an auto
