Ninja 500? Might as well take one more step up and get the ZX6R. Those are nice bikes.

No actually it's the 250. It's small but I've never ridden before so I'm starting off small and working up to a 600. Still quicker and more maneuverable than the civic.

the 250s aren't fast at all. But they are a great beginner bike. If you're getting a 250 get a used one, they go for dirt cheap. No point in getting a brand new bike you'll probably get rid of in a year once your ready for a bigger bike.

Re: So, I finally figured out how to get rid of 3-4 seconds on my et
this is a funny thread. personally i would not even consider a 250. considering how cheap you can find 600's these days that would be my choice. depending on what kind of civic you have i seriously doubt that thing would cut 4 seconds off your pass.

Pfft. Stay Honda. The f4i's are good beginner bikes.

Well my civic runs about a 16 or so, and the 250 runs about a 13. Starting on a 600 would probably be suicide.

Yeah, its best to acutally learn how, and get a feel for a bike, then hoop on somthing that can practically out run an enzo to begin with.

Re: So, I finally figured out how to get rid of 3-4 seconds on my et
Not a bad bike. It would take a fairly built civic to run with one of those. Aren't they in the 13's? I'd go with the 500. The 250 is a pretty small bike, size wise. The 500 makes quite a bit more torque and is a bit bigger. Much easier to ride, if you ask me. You really have to put the 250 through it's paces to run with anyone, but it has a near 15,000 rpm redline. Sounds pretty sick and will have no trouble dusting off a S2000 if you revv it up.
If you get anything more than a 500cc ninja, you end up killing yourself. Bikes are cheap enough that you can afford a used Ninja 500 and then upgrade to a 600 when you feel comfortable. And once you really learn how to handle a bike. Repsol>all

The 500 doesn't look as good as the 250, IMO.

I ride a Ninja 250 and I love the little bastard. Great, and I mean great gas milage and its got a little get up and go. Great for starting becuase it's more forgiving to beginner mistakes. Top speed: 105
Almost forgot about insurance. Gieko bases rates off of engine size rather than class like Progressive. For just liability: Gieko said 300/yr Progressing said 2000/year. Gieko views it as a scooter because of the small displacement. |

I'm not really a fan of either's body style. Little outdated considering they haven't changed it since like 1987 or something like that.

Plus my dad is not too happy about me considering getting a motorcycle.. so I wouldn't wanna push it by saying I'm gonna get a suicide-on-wheels-600 vs a tiny little 250.
