help with 4th gen civic! 1.4 16v dual carb

Hi, I'm a new member to this forum!

I own a UK Honda Civic 1.4 16v dual carb 1989.
Can someone enlighten me? I have heard that it is possible to fit induction kits on a car with carbs(?) is this true?
Also, everyone here seems to have the Civic Si's
anyone out there with the 1.4?

Another question, do most of u guys paint the car yourselves? i.e door handles, bumpers etc...

Also, can i make my OEM exhaust sound any louder?! (without getting a new back box that is.)

Thanks

Welcome to the board.

As for the question on the 4th gens, I think bracer can help you .

I also got a 1.4l, a '97 hatchback. You won't find an Si in the europe forum. Those cars were only for the US market. But instead, we got the VTi's. Same engine in a different chassis...

Oh yea, almost forgot. You can paint parts yourself. I've done it with my door handles, area around license plate and mirrors. It looks good, depending on how perfect you want your car to be. My front grill got painted by a pro and there's a big difference between the paint job done by him and by me. As long as you don't come to close, you can't really see a difference, but if you really look at it, you definitely see a big difference...

Close up of the mirror

Well, I'll try Goosse

myk888, I tried to answer some of your questions in the 88-91 Civic forum but I'm not sure what you mean with "induction kits" ? Do you mean like a K&N cone filter or something or do you mean Turbo or supercharger?

When I still had my 1.3 carb Civic I remember having a really hard time finding performance parts for that engine. After a long time of searching I finally found a (large) intake (can't remember the name), which bolted right up the carbs house but...the hood couldn't close. Since yours is dual carb I assume it's only harder. (but if you drill holes in your hood, it would be pretty cool to have 2 giant mushrooms sticking out of the car )
Since that didn't work for me I just got a K&N replacement filter (a large oval filter for in the box).
If you want to go really ghetto, you can make a piece of wood with the same shape of the aftermarket oval filter and make it just a little bigger, remove the top housing of the filter, put the piece of wood on top of the filter and secure it somehow. That way you'll have an "open air" filter with the sound you wanted (believe me, that will be loud ). You will loose performance because it will be sucking in hot air but you WILL turn heads (that's why I said 'ghetto' )
I was trying to build something like that with my carbed Civic before it got stolen. (you learn to be creative when there are no aftermarket products for your car...)
You could also try to score some performance carbs for your engine, some large webers or something.

If your question was directed to Turbo or SC, I would just call some specialized (Honda) tuning shops in your area for advice.

pfff, long post...sorry

I have no idea about the induction kit part, but about the exhaust part I'd have to say; just drill a couple of holes in the back box..it'll be louder, it'll be ghetto but it'll be free! and I can't figure out any other ways either...
