tamiya 180sx model?

i had gotten a tamiya 180sx model a couple years ago when they were still available thinking i was going to make it. well i just got back to building (u'll see a mkiii golf and peugeot wrc buildup soon) with my badger crescendo 175-7 airbrush n such. neway i was wondering if i should build the 180 at all. its in the box untouched and since they are hard to find i didn't want to waste a model like that. whats everyone's take on that?

Re: tamiya 180sx model?

you can try ebay, but it's a hit or miss. I've seen those sell for 10 bux and some sell for high teens. Damn snipers are also bringing down the prices

How are your modeling skills? If there not so great, do some other models to improve your skills first, then do the 180sx when your comfortable with your abilitys.

Re: tamiya 180sx model?

i would say build it. if not now, then save it for when you know you can make a great product out of it. just like Dylza says, models are meant to be built, not to sit around in a box.

Re: tamiya 180sx model?

if you wanna keep it for investment reasons, just buy a fujimi, or aoshima, they are just as good, and they have better wheels/tires imo. I too picked one up from ebay, I got it for $18 shipped, so I got a great deal. haven't seen another since though.

I have kits from DECADES ago that will most likely never be built, due to my lack of productivity, but I did get them with full intention of building them.

Re: tamiya 180sx model?

cool. I would save it and build more common kits to increase confidence/experience and to get used to the Tamiya paints. If you want to build a 180sx, Fujimi makes pretty nice ones too. Good luck

Re: tamiya 180sx model?

my big dillemma with this kit is that I don't want to risk destroying one to make a 89-90 240SX coupe. I want one so bad I can taste it, and I have one of each kit to build it, but I don't want to destroy either of them. I guess I'll have to find another one of each (silvia, and 180SX) and go ahead and start chopping!!
