Cutting Camry Alarm

I've just gotten a used 99 Camry V6 and the alarm drives me crazy. Seems I can't use my keys except to turn the ignition. The alarm always sounds if I use the key instead of the keyless to open the trunk or any door. The keyless is needed to get in and also before I open the trunk. Is there an easy way to disable the alarm or reset it?

Re: Cutting Camry Alarm

I would find a place that sells and installs your brand of alarm and ask them. The functions that they program into those alarms are complex, but you only have three buttons with which to program it. They work much like a watch where you have two buttons to set everything, but with an alarm there are chirp codes that confirm what you've just done.

You can set it to only arm when you push the button. That's how I have my wife's alarm set up. At home it makes no sense for it to be on, and we only go a few places where it needs to be on, but nothing is more frustrating than having it arm while you're organizing groceries. If you have the owner's manual for it you might be able to figure it out yourself, but I gave up after a hundred or so tries
