Painting windows...?

I was just getting ready to paint windows. i remembered someone here using markers to paint to black rims on the windows. So, anyone have any super success stories?
The windows are on the Revell Escalade so theres a bunch of the suckers. They do however have a nice ridge on the inside so they should be easy to paint.

Re: Painting windows...?

Not tried gundam markers on the windows themselves but I would advise painting them instead. Whatever you do, don't paint the frame edging (on body) with marker pen, I did and when I sprayed clear over it the clear reacted with the ink and it smudged & bled!

Gundam Marker will not work. You will work for hours and will use a full pen to make it and it will look bad.

Marker might be ok for newbie work, but they won't look as good as painted. The problem is marker aren't opaque enough and won't be uniform.

Masking and steady hand is the only way to have a good result.

I did mean the black on the inside of the windows themselves.

The windows in question have a nice tall step from the part to be painted black and the center clear portion. These should be the easest windows to paint ever, I'm just being lazy.

Thanks for all the tips!

Did you look on Alex Kustov's website, italianhorses.net, he has a tutorial on there how to go about painting the black trim on clear parts.

The guide on Alex's website might look easy, as he makes it all look so easy but once you get the hang of it, the results are VERY good.

Took me a few attempts to get it right, but now I use his way of making window templates all the time.

I tried the mark pen idea.. It's not good, mask and paint looks better, a lot better.
