gauge illumination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

do they sell xenon color bulbs for the gauges, if not my other ideas are to use a blue candy rapper as a filter(i know it's ghetto but it might work) or just paint the bulbs blue.....any advice or opinions would be a great help..........

I painted my bulbs and it worked just fine......make sure you take out the red piece of plastic first.....if you dont it will look lame....the blue actually turns out kind of grey.....thats fine with me cause it matches my Gunmetal Grey Car.

cool

so painting the bulbs is an option..... is there anything i should do? look out for? be careful of? if your came out a little grayish then i'll paint mine with alittle more purple to get a more bluish/xenon colour... does that sound right?

I personally would stick with white bulbs and replace the plastic red/amber lens with a different color material.

Hey man, they sell colored bulbs but only in one size, however the gauges take three different sized bulbs. I bought two of the colored ones and then painted the ones that you couldn't buy with some left over 900 degree paint. It works really well so far they haven't faded any. I bought all new bulbs btw. I figured while I was at it I would just replace them all. I don't think they sell the colored sleeves anymore cause I looked for them but never found em. Anyway if you need the part numbers to the different bulbs and how many you need of each kind then I'll try to get it posted up sometime.

ok, if you have a STD then the oil temp and fuel gauge both take regular sized wheat bulbs, part# is like 194R. And the speedo takes two of those also, but then the third bulb at the bottom left corner of the speedo takes a smaller wheat bulb which has the part # 74. And then the lights in the top of the gauge housing are even smaller, they're part #22721. There's a little redishorange cover over top of them that makes the needles look orange, if you take this cover out it is very bright and you will not be able to see any color behind the gauges. I'm guessing that the setup is similar on the Dx's and Si's but I'm not sure, just be prepared to buy several different types of bulbs after you tear the cluster down.

Yeah they make em but only in one of the sizes you need. So I guess just paint them all. It helps if you rub them off with laquer thinner or alcohol or something first so the paint don't just peel off.
