Question Tamiya Porsche Boxster Special Edition Q's

Boxster SE. Was this a show car? Did Porsche make any?
I haven't been able to find any info on the real car and some Porsche 'experts' I talked to knew nothing about it at all.

Re: Tamiya Porsche Boxster Special Edition Q's

It's better known as the Boxter Exclusive Special Edition. In Japan it was first announced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2001, as a limited production of 50 units, equipped with some Porsche genuine optional parts, and was only available in speed yellow.

The added options include...
Speedster convertible top cover
Body-colored roll bars
Body-colored 17 in. Sports Classic wheels
Colored Porsche crest wheel caps
Door sill protectors with "Boxster Exclusive" logo

I think "exclusive" is too big of a word for non-English speaking people, (especially kids and teens), so Tamiya simply named the kit special edition.

Actually, according to my "Porsche guy" it was available in any color you wanted, if you were willing to pay extra. All the add ons were supposedly available from Porsche so you could make one yourself too... - Mark
