How to take out the dash?

Well I started taking out my dash a couple days ago and I'm already stuck. The reason I'm doing this is to replace my tweeters, put in dynamat, paint everything, and add LEDs to the vents among other things. I got the whole lower console out(shifter & arm rest thing) and all of the things that pop out.

Now, how do you get those plastic squares out beneath the steering wheel that hid the bolts? I tried to pry them off using a screwdriver, but the point wouldn't ever get in there.
And how the hell do you take out the dash!!! The shop manual doesn't have very good pics or explain it well at all. If anyone has done this or knows where a good write-up on this is the help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: How to take out the dash?

the square things, you need like a sharp blade, maybe a box cutter or a razor. I used scissors when I got that part off, other than that, I would just take out any bolts that looked like it connected to the dash.

Re: How to take out the dash?

That's just it. I really can't see any bolts that connect it. So, after further thought I'm just going to vinyl die my dash while in the car. Hopefully it turns out nice.

Also, how do you remove the hood latch from that bottom piece?
Thanks

If you lift up on the hood latch you'll see two screws that connect it.

Yeah, I know that. Sorry my question was vague. I've got those 2 screws out, how do you disconect the cable from the latch. It won't come out with the cable attached.
Thanks

Re: How to take out the dash?

Got every plastic panel out of the car and in the process of being painted. Decided to leave in my dash after further consideration.

The only 2 pieces I have left are the trims that are above the back windows, the ones with the coat hanger on them. How do I get this piece off. I took off the coat hangers and I think I need to take off the 2 seat belts because they connect to this panel. I can't find anyway to take these off though. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
