Wiper Problem on a 97
This has to do with my Bravada but I thought I would post it here as it is similar to a Blazer and this forum gets much more traffic.
Here is the link to my thread in the Bravada forum: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=453825 Thanks for any help as it is greatly appreciated. |

Since I ruled out the possibility of it being a circuit board problem I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the plug attachment and were they able to repair it without too much difficulty? |

There have been plenty of times that the circuit board looked perfectly OK, but it was bad. This happened to me and a few - well, to be honest, almost everybody I know that owns a Chevy. The solder joints weren't the problem, it was the components on the board itself. Wiggling the plug may be jump-starting the wipers, just like pulling on the wipers themselves could work for me, but given the track record of the circuit boards it's still very likely that the board is the problem.
Making a living dealing with and troubleshooting auto electronics, I can say that wires and harnesses (plugs) are usually the most blamed but the least likely to be faulty components in an electrical system. The reason most people like to think that a problem is "just a loose wire" or "just a bad plug" is becasue that seems like an easier/cheaper fix than a defective component - that's where they want the problem to lie, so that's where they make themselves believe the problem lies. |

on the circuit board. GM had a "special notice" recall that ran from Feb '03 to Feb '04 that addressed this specific problem. You're out of luck on having them replace the board, it's about $30.00 for a new one. |
