Window Wipers Not Working
I have a problem with the front windshield wipers on my 97 Bravada. It seems that they stop working once and a while. It happened after I washed it and again after a little condensation formed on the window. I went to turn them on and nothing. When I tried turning them onto high it sounded like the wiper motor was making a sound but no movement. After about 5-10 minutes of driving I tried them again and they worked fine. This has happened twice now. Has anyone else had this happen? If so is it some sort of electrical short?

I have a 98 and had the same thing happen it's the wiper motor
circuit board . Three small screws i think takes the cover off And the board should come right out . About 50.00 at kragen. Oldsmobile used a lot of pastic parts. All wear out. |

Re: Window Wipers Not Working
Look for lines on the soldered joints. I even had one on a buddy's truck that the board conducter path had burned and I had to build it up with solder.

Re: Window Wipers Not Working
I took the board out and looked at it. It is in excellent shape. No weak solder joints that I could see. I put it back in and tried the wipers and no go.
So I then looked under the hood again and wiggled the plug that goes into the circuit board. The wipers started working again. If I wiggled it again they would stop. It seems like the problem is with the plug, it may just be a bad connection. Is there an easy way to fix this? Thanks for any help as it is greatly appreciated. |

make sure that the wire end of the connector has the wires fully inserted, then clean the matching connector posts with rough sand paper or an emery board and check the connection again by wiggling it. if youe still have a problem check the solder joints where the connector attaches to the board. if it feels loose at all resolder the connection.
also try wiggling the ignition switch to see if that's the problem, i've seen a few post where the ignition switch causes odd electrical problems including wiper probs. my dad, who is 85 and still driving (he's the guy in front of you in the crown vic with the left turn signal on all the time), insists that you should only have no more than two keys on the key ring in the ignition or the weight of all the extra keys will wear it out sooner. |

Re: Window Wipers Not Working
That's what two boards I worked on did. There's a bad joint on 1 or 2 of the leads that come off the connector and solder to the board....just get some acid core solder and after heating up the joints until liquid, give them a bit of the acid core solder to clean the connection.

Re: Re: Window Wipers Not Working
double-check with your dealer but I think there's a recall on 97 wiper boards ... if so, they'll fix it for free ... they did on my 97 Jimmy ...
