4-2-1 or 4-1

i know we've had this discussion numerous times..but....which is better. is one good for a certain range and the other good in a different range? which would be the best all around design. My exhaust manifold is starting to crack around the #1 cylinder exhaust port and well, i figure i might as well pay the 370 for a stainless header than the 220 for a cast iron manifold...

from what i remember, i think that a 4-2-1 is good for NA motors while a 4-1 is good for FI motors.

I don't think you need headers on FI cars? Well anyways i heard that the 4 to 1 can create more torque. I also heard that the one piece is better than 2 piece.

One word... SUPERCHARGER...

Turbo uses its own exhaust manifold, supercharger does not -- thus, 4-1 gives better breathing especially in the top end!

man check this out. i got off work and there was this flier on my window....place called next generation customs. i was like alright. i'll give em a shout and see what they are all about. I asked them for a dc sports 4-1 1 peice stainless header for my car. they said around 200 and asked if i would rather go for the "better" ceramic header. or maybe a matrix ceramic header...which is what they put on that black SI we saw with the bags. he said the ceramic was more expensive, and abetter because it didn't turn purple and blue from the heat and doesn't crack like stainless steel....i was like WTF.. so i attempted to explain that stainless is better because it doesn't crack and ceramic is made of a cheaper steel. he continued to argue. so, another attempted speed shop in my area who doesn't know jack $#!!. just thought i'd pass that on.
.........so someone tell me..am i right about the stainless better than ceramic..i know there isn't a distinct performance advantage but definately a longevity one

ceramic dissapates heat faster, but the coating is not forever. get SS for a long lasting quality header. as for looks, i think it looks cool when they turn all purply.

and i dont know how they are selling DC SS headers for 200 bucks!! the 'performance' shop (the only one) dosent know jack, just a bunch of ricers. you have you have a 2' wing and altezzas to park outside.

im pretty sure the boys are right.....4-2-1 for NA, 4-1 for SC, and youll get a turbo manifold if you go TC.
