360 CS transkit questions

Before I go and spend $35 on the CS transkit, what does it involve doing to the car... I don't want to get in over my head. Do you have to remove things from the car, and not just in terms of replacing the seats. Does one have to cut up the model as it stands? And if so, how would one do this cleanly, and how would one put it all back together?

And if you do that, the new bumper should just glue in place?

it should be painless yes. Maybe the resin will be a bit bent, but it's easy fix.

Go for it, it's not that hard. But don't try it if it's your first kit.

It's not my first kit... I've done a few Tamiya kits before... it'll be my first transkit, however.

I did this transkit. Also look at 360spiderīs thread of the conversion. The replacement of the part is indeed painless, when you work very patient. Took me some time to smoothen the bumper onto the chassis with some putty. Nevertheless, the results of a 360-conversion to the CS are great and worth the effort of the body work. Youīll need the the SAS wheels of course...
And one more thing: The decals from MSM are a little tricky. Donīt use decal solvents on it (Microscale or Gunze). My first set just vanished using this stuff!

Good luck with the conversion!

Then go for it. It's not a very hard transkit to work with.
You will have fun with it.

Re: 360 CS transkit questions

In my opinion it is incorrect, and not worth the price. Quality is so-so.

Hi 360spider,

What is it that you find to be incorrect about it?

Regards,

Ron

Re: 360 CS transkit questions

Hi 360 spider,

I'm not sure why your engine cover did not fit. I haven't heard anyone else mention that. Perhaps you had one that shrunk for some reason. As for your comments on the wheels and seats, the MSM kit Mk II has corrected these. The seats are now correct for the Stradale and the wheels are bigger so all in all it is a much improved transkit.

Regards,

Ron

Re: 360 CS transkit questions

Well, that still leaves us with incorrect door panels, side skirts, rear diffuser, etc. Like I said, IMO - its not worth the price even with corrected wheels and seats.

Hi Alex, I really appreciate your work on the 360CS, especially on the rear gill which looks so real. Regarding the side skirts, they've been corrected in the 2nd version but I didn't mention that. There are 2 different rear diffuser on the real 360CS and the transkit represents the show car's diffuser. I won't say they're 100% correct. Please let me know what's wrong and I'm listening and welcome comments . The door panels are incorrect...true!...I've tried to improve them but the out come was not good, they're too thin and the manufacturer said they can't cast in resin . The alternative is photo-etch but the cost will go up and the price will not stay at US$36. Anyway, thanks for your comments and if you feel you've been robbed US$36 X2, please contact me, I have a present for you.
Cheers

I have just received the this transkit yesterday, and comparing each item to the original, most seems fine. The engine cover fits perfectly, and the casting quality also looks fine. My only complaint is that one of the wheels hasn`t been cast that well but hopefully as it is not on the face it will be OK, and no-one seems to do a photo etched mesh rear panel. But thanks MSM Creations, I`m happy.

I can understand 360Spider as his work is outstanding, and accuracy is very important to him and of course his skills allow him to pull it off every time. My skills though, well lets say they still need tweeking

I am also buying the SAS transkit along with wheels and decals. When they arrive, hopefully later this month, I will have a good comparison.
