Re: Using photoshop to draw cars

use the pen tool. i'd say use illustrator for drawing, easier to work with IMO. Photoshop is more for just messing with pictures.

photoshop is perfect for painting anything that requires a
slick airbrushed look. It is a misconception that
ps is only for messing with pictures.

Re: Using photoshop to draw cars

how exactly do you start sketching cars with photoshop
Do you trace with illustrater and then add detail and slick looks with photoshop

basically, i create a blank layer onto of the image (locking the actual image layer), and take the pen tool and just start tracing the main lines first (body, rims, glass, etc). then after i'm sure that everything is straight looking, lock that layer and create another layer and do all the details. ETC etc etc. I make many layers just to make sure everything is organized and neat.

if you are having a hard time viewing the lines that you are drawing, try lowering the opacity on the actual image layer so it becomes more see-thru, which will let you see your lines better.

i use the same principle for either photoshop or illustrator. g'luck

how accurate can this get.
can you take parts from one car and add them to another?

can you draw from scratch?

Re: Using photoshop to draw cars

dude,

computer is just a tool like anything else. there isn't a "one" way. It depends. You can get as detailed or as abstract as you like. Ultimately though if you can't draw or see then your results will show that no matter what the medium.

Post some of your art and get help that way. It's much easier to help guide you if we know where you're comin from.

I never tried to draw something straight from PS to be honest, i tend to hand draw scan and only use PS for the coloring.
