Ignition Switch

Finally I had my jimmy looked at and found out there was nothing wrong with the transmission and the reason why it seemed it was slipping in OD and D was because of a bad ignition switch... Now i am just curious on how much this will cost to fix. The transmission shop wouldnt tell me and wouldnt fix.... any info would be awsome

Re: Ignition Switch

I'm guessing your truck is a 1997?

are you getting the Service Engine light?

There are posts on this forum on how to change the ignition switch. A Dealership will probably cost you $200.

Re: Ignition Switch

I have the very same problem with the very same year model! Did you have trouble figuring out how to take the key out of the ignition? What did you do to fix it?

Re: Ignition Switch

Ignition switches are easy to change. just drop the column.

Ignition cylinders arent as easy but are doable at home as well.
