WIP - Petter Solberg 2005 WRC

Had this kit for almost 4 weeks although been moving slowly on it.

Got the underside of the chassis complete, about to start on the cockpit of the car. Waiting to lay the heat resistant covers onto the drivetrain tunnel, then will start putting all the telemetary gear on.

Some photos of the chassis with bare shell attached to show stance etc...

Will get to work on interior ASAP to make the build more exciting for you all...

Regards

Hi WRC,

is the the Impreza so low from the box or have you modified the stance of the car ?

Re: WIP - Petter Solberg 2005 WRC

Gidday, the Impreza is low straight out of the box. The suspension has not been altered at all. The ride height of the Impreza is very close to that of what Petter ran in the 05 Monte Carlo. This could be because of the low average speeds and consistency of smooth roads used, the lower the car, the lower the centre of gravity is for the driver resulting in better handling. Which we all know is of paramount importance in a rally such as Monte Carlo with the ice and snow.

In regards to the model, today im hoping to be laying the heat proofing over the drivetrain tunnel then continuing on with the telemetary gear.

PS: the photos of Petter with myself and blubaja are very easy to get, the WRC drivers are very down to earth happy to meet and greet fans. Most likely the most down to earth professional motorsport drivers on earth!

Thanks for the reply WRC,

my 2005 Monte Impreza is waiting on the bench, but I did not check yet the stance, therefore the question.

Ciao: Roberto

Re: WIP - Petter Solberg 2005 WRC

A bit of progress on the Impreza. I have done the seats with photoetch belts 5 point harnesses. The transmission tunnel has had the heatproof blanket laid onto it as well. A small amount of wiring has been done although this is minimal once rollcage has been installed it is not so visible.

A few photos of where it is at follow...

A little feedback would be good, let me know what you all think of it.

Re: WIP - Petter Solberg 2005 WRC

In the real cars it is although flat white being painted onto the floor up to the end of driveshaft in my opinion looks tacky. All the other WRC cars are one colour throughout, just looks nicer so I have left the floor TS50 blue.

Re: WIP - Petter Solberg 2005 WRC

I painted mine white where the seats are... I think maybe it should be white in the rear also?
Anyway, it look strange in the beginning, but when you mount the dash, paint the centre console, get some seats in and so on it looks good

Your car looks good!!!

Re: WIP - Petter Solberg 2005 WRC

Haha gidday there, sorry about the lack of updates, I have the car in final finishing stage(wingmirrors, side indicator lights which will be finished tomorrow) so will post pictures of the car finished tomorrow although this will be in the subaru blue without any decals. They are the next thing to tackle this weekend. Being a full time Chef is a nightmare when you want to spend a few hours building models haha.

More progress tomorrow!

Regards
