Red 5 MP4/20 Resin kit..??

Just looking around on the old net for some pics of the Honda F1 car I'm about to start, and came across this -

http://www.redfive.com.br/next.htm

Not only that, you get to read the manual for the car, along with some ref: picutres of the real F1 car..

http://www.redfive.com.br/OnlineManu...h/Page%202.htm

Looks to be superb kit, and from the US suppliers is $150.. For all you F1 nuts out there, what do you think? Anyone looking to buy one? It was a great read, just reading the manual was fun.. would love to have a go at one.. But as always, money and common sense come into play..

Bah...

Re: Red 5 MP4/20 Resin kit..??

I've been keeping an eye on the new RedFive kits coming out, and they're really taking the game to Studio27. Not only are they producing what appear to be good quality resin kits, but they're also bringing them out with full engine and "nose cone off" detail! They actually supply real wooden planks for the bottom of the car too.

I'd love to get my hands on one of these kits, but they are rather pricey. Perhaps next year...

All the real good F1 subjects appear to be coming out in these resin kits. I will be truthful, I would love to add some to my collection as they look so good. But at these prices, I'd be too scared to even open the box, yet alone start applying any limited skills I've got..

Why is all the decent F1 kits only appearing from the resin cast companys? I've got the Honda BAR and a few others that I would like as models on the list, but I can only get them as Resin kits. At around £100 - £150 each it is such a shame, as in the end, I buy them to build them and at that price I'd perhaps not even do that..!! LOL..

Need a better paid job..!!

Re: Red 5 MP4/20 Resin kit..??

Holy crap that's a lot of money for those kits! Take a page from my book and grab them from www.hlj.com or my current favourite www.mediamixhobby.com.sg .

I bought a Studio27 kit about a month ago from MediaMixHobby and paid roughly AUS$225 delivered. This comes to about UK95 Pounds, which is expensive, but not so bad. Especially if you're like me and tend to buy and finish perhaps three kits in a year.

I guess I was just bored with the Tamiya stuff at the time, and wanted something different. I chose the BAR as it was the 'plainest' of the lot, and wasn't all red. Some of the earlier BAR's had even less colour than they have now, so perhaps grab one of them for the first try. You might even find one reasonably cheaply on eBay! I actually got my BAR on eBay for AUS$175 delivered, which is about UK74 Pounds.

The resin kits are a challenge, but with the skills you've shown on your recent builds I think you'd enjoy a resin kit and complete it well. My skills are only moderate, but I'm having (slow) success with my first resin kit.

Anyway, enough rambling from me, time for some modelling...

Re: Red 5 MP4/20 Resin kit..??

Although resin kits look very expensive to buy, they will almost certainly taking more work and longer to build than your average plastic kit.

So for example, a £20 plastic kit may take you a month to complete, but an £100 resin kit may take you 5 months to complete because of the difficulty of the work involved. So in this way it costs the same as buying the equivalent plastic kits. I remember HiroBoy saying something similar when someone asked him how he could afford to keep buying 1/12 scale kits

Wow that is fantastic. A full engine detail MP4/20.
I know what I want for Christmas...
Judging by the parts naming, it looks like the whole thing is metal.

You do know that Revell AG are coming out with the 20 plastic kit?

Revell's will be in 1/24th. A better scale IMHO.

Re: Red 5 MP4/20 Resin kit..??

Yeah, could be bothered to tye all the silly letters and numbers Mclaren use to differentiate their cars.

I seem to remember they were going to make the 19, but for some reason there is no information about it anymore on revell.de

Phil, yeah, curbside, but at a fraction of a fraction of the price. I recently got their GA (see, can't be bothered with the full designation either!) and I think it is going to look more that decent when completed. Skill permitting, of course

So you have the GA Alex - I have the Jag!
I agree the kit looks like it will build very well, but take a lot of time and effort.
