k here but id like anyone's opinion on my situtation with my Porsche.
Back in 91 my father bought a new 911 Carrera 4 porsche for $64,000, Six months later he crashed the porsche by rolling it due to heavy hail falling during the day. The costs for repair came too $34,000, the body was repaired using the front hood as the only reference point, a representative from Porsche NA came to inspect the car and gave my father a written document that the car was "acceptable to today's industry standards" and that she "saw no shortcomings". We later found out that this rep was fired from Porsche NA for a reasons undisclosed. We felt the car was never the same as it was when new, the first physical indication was that the tires were balding down to the acutal thread after 2500 miles. The car was brought to various body shops and dealers in my area and given a test. The frame was found to be approx 10mm off center (ive heard that 2 to 3 mm is already bad), the car was given an alignment but the alignment machine was not able to align the car, metal washers were placed under the seats to make them level because the floor panel wasnt straight, the paint was not original factory paint, of course the doors dont close flush and the gaps between doors, hoods, and body panels are not even, at 80 mph the driver will feel large amonts of wind blowing through the drivers door, and a number of other things. We took the porsche to an authorized dealer and they gave me the run around, one thing they commented on was that it is illegal to drive a car at 80 mph, so they didn't feel any wind, a different representative from Porsche NA inspected the car and claimed that the "car could have been fixed a bit better" body shops only found problems but didnt provide any information on what they meant. Now i am 20 and taken over ownership of the Porsche, and i plan on getting results. I do suppose i could claim the insurance but since a rep from Porsche got involved in the beggining i have been pretty bitter about Porsche and the reputation for customer service. Sorry for the long post but i appreciate anyones opinion. thanks a lot. |

Damn... that sounds really bad tho... I really don't see any way to do it... you'll have to strip the whole car down and fix it... but it'll take lots of work and will need extra care etc. and i don't think it'll be worth... dang... those porsche NA are real ...

Who was the rep? Get his ass fired, he's just going to do the same thing to somebody else.

I do not want to post names on the board, but i am pretty sure the people at fault will get what they deserve.

1.) I have never had anything other than an excellent experience when dealing with Porsche, and
2.) I don't mean to be rude, but that car should have been considered a total loss. when dealing with a performance automobile like that, it does not take much of a collision to permanently affect the cars performance, regardless of the quality of repair... |
