93 Saturn SC - Hesitating initial acceleration - Need Help
I have a 93 Saturn SC 1.9. It hesitates (stales, no power for 1 sec then kicks in) during initial acceleration. I have changed the fuel pressure regulator. It drives fine after it gets up to speed. Sometimes stalls in the intersection when I start up again. Have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
Thanks for your help. Randy D [email protected]

Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body with carb cleaner (spray) and see if that resolves the problem.

I have a 97 SC2 and the same thing happens to me....When I hit the gas It takes a second, then the RPM's go way up then the car picks up speed, so the total time from when I hit the gas to when the car actually picks up some speed is about 4 seconds. I went to the Saturn dealership here in Orlando, FL. and one of the guys said check for a clogged filter. If thats not the answer to the hesitating acceleration, it's most likely just that you are only going to get so much response from a 4 cylinder. I dont know about the stalling though. I have an automatic.

I have a 93SC2 with the same problem I cleaned throttle body and replaced the map sensor, and it still stalls occasionally in intersections.

check the spark plugs, when the dealership powerwashed my engine or whatever ya call it, the spark plugs got wet and caused acouple problems , including delayed acceleration
