My car has started to occationally not start. When this happens, and I turn the ignition to the first stage, I get no dash lights, no power to the radio, no headlights. I do still have power to my cell phone charger that is pluged into the cigarette lighter. I have been able to get the car to start by putting the car through the gears (automatic) and after 2 - 6 tries, when I get back to park, the dash lights come on and I can start my car.
1. Is this the Neutral Saftey Switch? 2. I bought a new part, and was told it is located on top of the trransmission. I'm no mechanic, and don't have any specialized tools. Is this something I'm going to what to give to a mechanic? Can anyone lead me to a web page with an exploded view or something like that that will guide me through this? Thanks |

Re: 94 Taurus Neutral Saftey Switch
Check the ignition switch itself. Sounds like a bad connection. It's located under the column, basically behind the knee bolster and brace. There will be on bolt holding the wiring harness on, and two more bolts attaching the switch to the column.
