2005 Subaru 2.5 RS
If you guys remember a while back I was asking alot of questions about used WRX's, b/c my buddy was in the market. Well he didn't get a WRX, but he got a 2.5RS... automatic
. He called me all pissed from the dealership b/c his "mommy" wouldn't let him get a 5 speed. At least he got a car, and its brand new, looks like a WRX sans hood scoop (he got the wing). Parts for the WRX are as common as Camrys, but the 2.5 RS is a different story. Tuffy said they could weld up a cat-back system for $250-300, sounds pretty good to me. He found a cold air intake from Injen for $250, does anyone make one cheaper? I say an AEM unit on car doamian but I couldn't find it on AEMPOWER.com. Would a 1994-2000 2.5 RS "short ram" work? I thought it might b/c the engine is the same and the short ram is so small. You can get those short rams off of ebay for $15-50. I know they may not be the best but my buddy is unemployed, and wouldn't really know the difference. How big of a pain is it to put in a pulley kit? XS engineering has hat new ignition blaster for the WRX, they say it will work on anycar but they only have instructions for certain ones. Is the WRX ignition the same as the 2.5RS?

Re: 2005 Subaru 2.5 RS
If you're referring to the supercharger, it's a custom piece.

Re: 2005 Subaru 2.5 RS
Got alot of views but no responses so I'll make it simpler.
Are there any intakes that will fit a 2005 2.5RS for under $250? Will a GC8 2.5RS's Short Ram intake fit the 2005? Does a one off exhaust from Tuffy sound like a good idea? The price $250-300 souns good to me but, if it makes no power then it was a total waste. Will the instructions from the XS ignition blaster for the WRX work on the 2005 2.5RS? Will WRX underdrive pulleys fit the 2.5RS Do pulley kits include crank pulleys Does a ProECM ecm add goood power? Are ignition wires a good mod for the EJ25? Does anyone make a bigger Throttle Body for the 2.5RS? |

Will a Proflowdesign throttle body for a 2005 WRX STi work on a 2.5RS?

Re: 2005 Subaru 2.5 RS
Well, I just got an '05 Impreza 2.5 RS too, but I convinced my mom to let me get a five-speed (she's even gonna learn how to drive it
). I could have picked up a nice '03 WRX that was on the lot, but it'd be a waste, since I'm not even skilled enough to push a 2.5 RS to its limit. Plus the insurance and gas mileage are rough for an 18-year-old making $10 an hour. Tell him not to be discouraged about not getting a WRX - it's not like the 2.5 RS is slow or anything, and if he's as young as he sounds in your post, it's a better idea for him anyways. As for upgrades, there's not a whole lot engine-wise, but if he wants cheap straight-line speed, the Impreza in general is not the best choice. However, mostly all of the wheel, tire, brake, and suspension upgrades for the WRX will also work for the 2.5 RS, so if you want a cheap and potent autocrosser, or an all-around fun-to-drive street car, it's very much up to the task.

Re: 2005 Subaru 2.5 RS
Hes 17, most of these mods will be spread out, he is currently unemployed but he is getting a job this year. I just want to know if all those parts will work, because despite my age I am "the head wrench," on this project.

Any engine part from an 00-01 RS will work on an 02-04 model. Some things were changed for the 05 models and I'm not sure what fits and what doesn't. If it's an 05 I think it's a MAF right? If so then any intake for the 98-99 RS's should fit
