Adjusting Cam Gear

my friend adjusted my cam gear for me its a AEM. i didnt know how to do it so i let him adjust it at his house over night. after i got the car back i drove it and tested it, it did feel faster but it started smoking out of the exhaust pipe after i hit high rpms and Vtec. my other friend told me its tuned to advanced, or its not set right to my timing ignition. anyone know whats up??? please help

Sounds like the adjustment is causing the car to run a little rich -- find out how far "advanced" it is... take a look on the gear there should be numbers... like...
