305-350
I now this was somewhat posted but I was wondering HP difference in the 305-350 It can't be too much since they are both pretty big engines but If you put a 350 into regular civi car does anything else have to be changed like rear-end or driveshaft? I hope this doesn't seem to stupid to ask since they arn't that big from eachotehr but just wondering.

First you have to state which year your talking about. There are some differences of horsepower/torque rating of the same engine for different years due to changes in engine.
Examples: Caprice 350-cid picked up 30hp from 1986 to 1987 due to the use of roller lifters and a boost in compression. Caprice 350 picked up 10hp from 1988 to 1989 due to the change from carb to Throttle Body fuel injection. Caprice 350 picked up 10hp in 1992 due to use of a hotter cam. Caprice 350 picked up 55hp in 1994 when it changed from TBI to Sequencial Fuel Injection (LT1) and a slight boost in compression. |

Re: 305-350
yeh theres many many different power ratings of even the same exact engines over the years and evne within same years all depending on make model and VIN code
there were many different 305s even in a given year and same with 350s and so forth, such as for example the L69 HO 305 engine were higher than alot of 350 engines of the same years- they were as much as 190hp in the mid 80s and higher compression 9.1 its very random hit and miss normally 305 were around 130 or 140hp and the 350 around 170 180 hp and with normal 8.0 or 8.5 CR when were not installed in vettes or anything like that there is no one answer for this Q, i wouldnt worry about it so much, and alot of the ratings have to do with what carb and cam those are the biggest things, GM used billions of different cams and a few different pistons and different intakes and different exhaust systems, and so forth, and these all affected power ratings

Re: 305-350
does a cam for a 350 fit a 305? If so, what might a 350 cam in a 305 do?? Will the 305 benefit, or is it too extreme for 305? I really have no clue when it comes to cams, thats why i havnt done any cam work whatsoever until i finish doing my reserch, right out of a textbook.
