Harry Potter: IT'S JUST A BOOK!!!!!!!!

What is with people sayig that the Harry Potter books are evil and promote Satanism and witchcraft? It's a book!!! A children's book, nonetheless. Where, I ask you, does it say in any of the books anything about religion or the Devil or any of that stuff? People assume that Voldemort is Satan, and everyone will come to worship him. He's just a fictional character in a book read and loved by millions of people. I love the books. Having just finished the last one, I can tell you there is no mention of anything to do with Satan or going to Hell or anything like that whatsoever. People just need to lighten up and actually read the books to understand them. If they're gonna bash Harry Potter, then why don't they bash all other books that have magic in them like "Lord of the Rings" and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"? No one has ever said bad stuff about them. They're just BOOKS, people!!!!!

Most people directly link witchcraft (which is obviously a big part of the series) with Satan because they believe that witchcraft in itself is of the Devil. I personally think people need to find something better to bitch about. I agree though, I've not seen anything satanic in the movies or anything that was supposed to lead me to believe that the movies were satanic. People are dumb.

Well why did GW get re-elected in the US last year? Because all these damn hillbillys and their way-screwed up "moral values" decided they should do something about the satanistic views of the rest of the country. What's even funnier is a bunch of peopel around here boycotted and protested a radio station that gave away spoilers in the book. And the fact that there was a line of people waiting to buy the damn book. Almost as sad as those people who camp out for star wars. I'm sorry, they are that sad.

There's a kid at my work who bought the book and read it in 5 days.
He told me he went home everyday and just engulfed himself until he fell asleep.. I don't have enough free time to watch TV never mind go home and read a book for 5 hrs every night.. Its an obsession

Dude, I read about this chick from holland or something who flew to london, and waited six hours for the book. Thank you CNN, you now bring me entertainment as well as news.

The most retarted thing is that I went into barnes and noble to buy the book, grabbed one off the huge stack, turned, and saw at least 200 boxes of reserved copies, all while there was a stack and a half in front of me that were for anyone to buy. Lol.

I know a teacher who was going to read the book to her class for "storytime" but had a parent complain and threaten to pull her child out of the school if she read it. That's ridiculous if you ask me.

sorry... cheap shot... but c'mon, first you atatck trading card games, then pokemon and now harry potter..... and that's ignoring anything majorly political.

i just can't understand it.
if god is all powerful then why are they (the protesters) so insecure about something as trivial as a childrens book? heck, i'd be campaigning about the death penalty that still exists in some states; y'know, remember them ol' ten commandments?
