need seat cooling

anyone have any ideas to cool down a seat? after long drives i always have this huge wet spot on the back of my shirt.

i was thinking about putting in a couple of computer cooling fans, but if anyone has any better ideas please...

In my experience, the seats don't get hot if it is not hot in the car.

the only thing you can do is give it a try i think i saw it on pimp my ride once but i dont really remeber but make sure you use a thinner foam on the seat cover so it doesnt block the windflow

yea, thats what i was worried about.
if its too thick, there will be no air.
if its too thin, the seats won't be as soft

I got a better idea.

Have a pocket stitched into your seat.. not too thin, but not too thick, have the pocket lined with a thin carpet... something like speakerbox carpet. Then find a small plug in cooler. If you can't find one for 12V, then get a power converter and a home cooler that you can fit into your vehicle somehow. (be creative). Get a couple gel freeze packs, the big ones, and keep them in there. Then when it gets hot, just toss the gel pack in that bitch and you'll be chillin. You'll be fuckin Gellin. Like magellan, you'll be so gellin you felon.

That's a pretty good idea Rick... when reading through your post I thought you were going to say buy a 12V cooler and rip it apart and take whatever device it is in the cooler that keeps thing cold, and put that into the seat... could that work?

I don't know how coolers work, I do know 12V coolers exist though.

I've seen a neat trick done once. During a re-upholstering, the shop used perforated leather and made the layer under it out of that 3M abrasive pad. It allowed a layer of air to easily circulate around your body. I would love to take that one step further and duct some 1" hose to a hole in the floor from the seat. As you travel it would suck air out. You could also duct into the seat from the AC.

A really cheap idea is to get one of those beaded seat covers like cab drivers use. I find them to be great, except I have long hair and it gets caught in the beads

the thing about coolers is that they generate heat. they take the heat out of the air from within the cooler, and dissipate that heat. if you put that in the seat it would get really hot. Not to mention it would be really slow, so you would have to leave it on all the time even if it would work and Im wrong. The duct idea is good. a lot of cars do have ac ducts running below the seat, so that would be done relatively simply. About a duct under the car, I don't know about that one lol. A seat intake lol....

I think in rush hour traffic at noon that duct would suck.
