Eighties Contest Entry: 1/24 Lancia ECV

this is what's done so far. i am using a burago delta s4 metal kit as my donor, possibly one of the worst kits ever produced. all i'm using from the kit is the body. everything else is trash. i will be modifying the body and the casting it. among the many problems, my biggest one might be casting the rear cowl as one piece. the radiator intakes on the ecv are part of the cowling. i may have to just build it out of sheet brass rather than cast it in resin. i hope to do as much engine detail as possible, but we'll see. nevertheless, here it is. i would greatly appreciate suggestions and comments. and if anyone out there has some refence material, that's welcome as well. i have a press kit w/ photos, two magazines w/ a couple photos each, and what's out there on the web.

Sorry I can't help with references, but good luck with the build! Where are the engine, chassis and everything else coming from?

That's about all the reference pics I've seen, maybe like one or two other '20 foot' shots.

Looks like a cool project. Is the Bburago kit still available?

i'm pretty certain the burago kit is still avaialable from greathobbies.com.

as far as the chassis, engine, etc., i plan on taking from the Hasegawa 037 and delta 16v kit and modifying and scratch-building where necessary.

I know this car, cos' I have seen it this season in a french event part of the european hill climb championship in which Bruno Ianiello is fighting for champion title once again.
european championship takes the german championship name because most of the stages take place in Germany, where the Berg Cup is the championship of the "Berg Rennen" (= Hill climbing).

This car is in fact a delta S4 serie 200 (= from 200 cars limited edition necessary for Gr. B homologation) built by Bruno Ianiello in a racing Gr. B version !!
550 bhp that sound like nothing else when compressor and turbo sing together !!
that's a monster that trust each record in the european championship !
for example in the first 30 seconds of the video you can see an extract of the famous "saint ursannne - les Rangiers" swiss stage, where you can see the S4 using all its power and capacity on what seems to be a real "highway" track for this car (as in reality the track passes under a highway bridge !).
Bruno has beaten the record there in 2004 !

I couldn't believe it when I saw the car in a french event, 30 kms away from my home, where the female pilot of our pilots association ran this year, in april (with a Peugeot 205 rallye !)
The most impressive except its speed, especially in curve, is when Bruno launch the monster at the start !!
so much power instantly that even with the all wheel drive the car is slightly sliding and trembling till tyres catch the track !
incredible !!
I downloaded some videos from Bruno... But sorry I may not find back all the links...
But I have a few pics of the french event I spoke, if someone may be interested...

if you like Hill climb and are interested in such videos, A friend of mine follows the Berg Cup and produces videos on DVD:
http://www.videoconcept.com/shop/catalog/default1.php

what you should know about berg cup is that in this championship the rules allow deep modifications on the cars, for example you can race with a former DTM Class-C Mercedes, or a VW golf of 225 Bhp or even more...!! (some Audi engines are often placed in VW golf or polo).
you can also find a BMW GT-R that received a Judd 700 Bhp V8, driven By Plaza...!!
or a few years ago a driver put a second turbo in a Ford escort WRC to get around 750 Bhp !!
this is the craziest championship I could see !!

Take a few seconds to take a look at !! I'm sure you'll enjoy !!

Bye
Phil
