Non-US D series transmissions

A friend of mine told me that Japanese D series trannies are closer ratio's than the Americans. I believe he was referring to EX's and not the entire line, but I'm not sure. Is this true? If so how hard/expensive is it to get one? And, finally, can gears between my US tranny fit into the Japanese one? I really only want close ration 1,2,3 and possibly 4th gears, and a wide 5th. Thanks in advance for any and all the help you can provide.

Well I know theres a ZC gear box, which is the gear box from the 4g Si Civic and CRX. Its got differnt ratios, but uses a cable clutch.

Otherwise its possible some of the model have differnt ratios, but I find it unlikely.
Your best bet would be to try a big search on the net, (try www.google.com) and find a list of all the differnt ratios.
They will however all be totaly interchangeable with your gearbox.
In fact you might even find some gear sets from other models will also fit.
But the only way to find out is to have yout box open and simply try fitting the differnt gear sets.
