Replace Power Window ?

Just purchased 96 Firebird. Both power windows moved very very slow. Then yesterday the driver's side didnt want to go back up. Anybody got any info or pics on how to change the power window motor ?

Does really slow movement indicate a need to change the motor ?

My windows in my '98 bird move fairly slowly as well. If its just swapping out the motors, i might wanna do that. How much are the motors and how do you do it?

Here It Is!

Yes, It's the motor. The design is pure crap. Same goes for the headlight motors on Gen 4 F-bodies. This site has complete instructions on how to replace the motor.

It's been said that using the "auto-down" or "express-down" function on the driver's window causes it to fail. this makes sense because the body control module has no other way to tell the window is down except to sense the high current when the motor stalls at the lower limit. Repeatedly stalling a DC motor is a sure way to kill it. Like I said, this is a piss poor design. I got a new motor off a Yahoo shopping outlet for around $75.00.
