70's cars?

What cars from the 70's peek your interest as projects, collecters, or just wouldn't mind owning?

It depends I love the 70 Chevelle, however the later ones like 78, 79 got large and low on power. Though I admit I still don't mind the body style. With auction houses driving up the cost of 60's muscle some of the 70's machines are going to be in demand. Imagine a late 70's Chevelle, Camaro, or Caprice with an LS1 engine. Maybe a 70's Dart with a new Hemi, or a Cammer shoved into a 73 Boatstang.

Opel 1900 "Ascona" 2-door sedan or 2-door wagon.

I also liked the Plymouth Arrow, but I had trouble driving them, really short on headroom.

Any American muscle car would be worth having. There's lots of them made in the 70's.

any Challenger or 'Cuda/ Barracuda
any Trans am/ Firebird
any camaro
A- body Gm car (GTO, Chevelle, Buick, and Oldsmobile) pref 70-72, but would take a '73 also.
any corvette
mustang (though I might pass on the 74-78 models, but it's just my opinion)
any Charger/ super bee
any GTX/ Road Runner/ Satellite
1970-72 Duster/ Demon 340
any AMX/ Javelin

These would be good to have too
Pantera
Bricklin

cars are great.

Re: 70's cars?

I'm partial to the mid 70's GM midsizes, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevrolet Malibu, and El Camino. Living here in the rustbelt of NY the only time I get to see these cars anymore is in the good weather. 15 years ago they were a dime a dozen, now they are scarce in my area.

Re: 70's cars?

Porsche 917/30 is one of my top 5 cars ever, and by far the best form the 1970's.

If I have to stick to street cars, then the Plymouth Barracuda, Lancia Stratos, and BMW 3.0 CSL get honorable mentions.

Re: 70's cars?

70s cars I've had:

73 impala station wagon, 454, AC
73 AMC Hornet sportabout wagon, I6, no options

The impala I still have. Only had 58,000 on it when I bought it a year and a half ago. I built a 454 to replace the original. Its about 400 horses. It has 9C1 cop car wheels from a 94 Caprice and an stereo CD player replaced the original AM radio.

Now THATs worthy of some time, but I think I'll keep it mostly stock.
