I have a 2001 Acura integra GS coupe which I bought brand new from the showroom last year in June. Anyways I have everything stock right now and I want to begin doing some modifications to it. I was thinking of changing the motor right away to a GS-R or Type R motor but that is expensive. Can anyone give me all the steps that I should take into making my car go as fast as a Type R or even faster. I would like to get your opinions on which brand names are better and what kind of mods to do right away, ex.(AEM Cold air intake, DC sports header, etc) . I'm not thinking of doing them all at once, just one thing at a time. I would appreciate the help. Thanx!:flash:

Shoot for faster than a Type-R. Plus, do you want it faster in the twisties or on a drag strip?
just about any "big name" will make pretty quality stuff, just read what people say in other posts about stuff. If you want to go fast-fast buy a turbo kit ![]() www.sfp.net

Must decide FI or NA. And if FI, TC or SC. It always sucks to buy headers and then put them on a shelf in you garage because you decided to go with a turbo. Read the boards, do your reasearch and then buy.

well you have a non vtec engine so it will be hard to match or beat a R with little mods, so your best bet is to do major mods. Dont spend money on little things like intakes and exhaust. Save money and up the compression ratio with better pistons, rods and other goodies or go for forced induction.

I say go turbo....I tried the NA route....I tried a SC....and finally I have a completely built LS engine along w/ a turbo! You could buy a turbo kit from DRAG....they're pretty popular....check out honda-tech.com in the FI section....you could find a lot of info!:bandit:

Yeah, well I am definitely getting a Vtec setup in the near future. After all isn't that what Honda cars are most famous for? I feel left out when I have an Integra and don't have vtec.

it really depends on how much money you want to spend. to beat a typer in a gs..you could just go FI and give it about 7-8psi and take really good care of it. it should last you a few years without needing any major reconstruction. that will cost you around 2-3k. if you want all motor then i would say to go with the gsr motor (just cos its a lot cheaper, but if you got the money go for the type r) and then just build it all up. with some higher compression pistons, stronger head, and some clean breathing you should be able to take a type r...thats if they haven't done that too though.
and if you got the money...go for the engine and the FI...i would go turbocharger..but thats just cos i like the sound.
