Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

hi, i found some 1:12 and one 1:8 kits at my lhs. the 1:12s are the Testarossa and the Bel Air. the 1:8 is some Ford Hotrod(i wanna say Highboy?). i was wondering how these kits are, as in fitment, quality, etc....

thanks.

Re: Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

So far what I've done with the Testarossa it has fit very well, you will be trimming quite a bit of flashing off though. Painting the large surfaces is impossible by brush and I highly recomend either an airbrush or spray paint. The tires/wheels are too big in scale on the kit so I've heard, but I'm not anywhere close to putting them on.

Re: Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

It is fairly detailed, but like all models, it is missing some key parts especially on the interior and the brakes.

Re: Re: Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

i have both the 1:8 ford and the 1:12 chevy and im quite happy with bouth exept i dident like the engine in the ford the buick 6 carb system wasent to my like`ing but that was it both kits have some optional parts but the chevy has most where you can build stock street or strip
the ford has some extra parts that makes a nice full fender or sweet hiboy i recomend you bye the kits but might consider a new engine for the ford on make a new intake but after that they are a nice pare

i recomend them strongly

Re: Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

The Chevy isn't to bad , but the detail is kinda simplified. Be prepared to have most of the chrome either replated or plan on using Alclad to re-do it. The chrome in both of these that I've seen was badly done. Its incredibly hard to find any parts for these ( wheels tires etc) .

Re: Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

One hting that turn me off completly is when I have see that most Ferrari 1/24 Tamiya model have more pieces than the 1/12 Revells. The Detail look a bit low for 1/12.

Go for the 1/8 Ford `32 with the flathead version. Pricey but worth it

Re: Revell 1:12 kits[questions]

I've not got the 1/8 Streetrod, but I've just started the 1/8 E-type that I'm going to detail and the quality for it's age is very good...they're getting very hard to come by on this side of The Pond.

Have a look on eBay - some guy is making some very cool parts for the rod - track-t noses etc.

Oops sorry I thought you mentioned the Model T not B - never seen the model over here!
