Keyless Entery BCM Prob

Well I thought i got the perfect ride for 3 grand but of course the old lady that sold me the car only had the spare key and had no clue where her husbands originals were. Well seeing my father manages a gm dealership he got me some free compatable remotes and some new keys "i lost the keys to my corvette and he wanted to kill me" and crap for me. He printed out the guide for setting up the keyless entry that the techs would use but i seem to be having a problem. I was able to reprogram and tune the computer on the car using there systems fine but setting up the keyless entry i guess uses something differnt. Your suposed to ground the bcm, to put the keyless entry into programming mode. Well um yah its suposed to chirp and cycle the locks to notifiy you but it don't. and that caused me to realize something else the doors dont lock autimatically like they should when you put the car in drive and unlock when you turn the car off. Everything seems to work fine with the computer except for that.

Make sure you have the right style keyless remote. I know in 96 they changed the system and the remotes are as they are now (round and come with up to 4 buttons. Unlock, Lock, trunk release, and a red panic button). You should have the older style rectangle one that has 3 buttons, unlock, lock, and trunk release. It looks like this:

As for this

The locks aren't supposed to do that. Neither mine nor does my friends 2000 Trans Am do that.

I know FormulaLT1 has the diagram to program the keyless remote. Maybe if he see's this he'll post it for you. I followed it and it worked fine for me. Should work for you. Hope this helps you out somewhat. And welcome to Automotive Forums.

Yah, I wasent sure if the doors where suposed to be set to auto by enganging in drive, I know it can be programed off on the 97+ newer models but I wasent sure if the old obdi's did the auto locking. Ive actually got 3 diff compatible remotes, i told him i dident like ones for my car the FCC: ABO0104T, cause they were ugly. He looked it up and 3 others were compatable The Boniville KOBUTIBT, the early Camaro AB01502T. He printed me out the instruction sheet which is almost the exact same as this except it includes pictures http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#1995keyless I came home and tried jumpering it togather paper clip like he told me to do i made sure it had good contact. But the car does nothing, I dont want to take it back and have one of the technitions work on it cause something so simple will make me look like a fool. I think i might be missing a step =\

That's why it's not working for you. Try googling those remotes "Bonneville KOBUTIBT" and "Camaro AB01502T." You'll see what I mean. Those are designed to work with the newer model keyless entry system. The only remote that is compatible is the "ugly" one that I pictured above. They put out different frequencies, so those newer ones will not work at all. The one that supposed to go with your keyless entry system isn't all that bad. I have that exact one and bought it off ebay. I'm tellin ya, if you just get that one, and then try programming it, then it'll work like a charm. But if you're all gung ho about getting one of those newer style remotes, then you're going to have to buy a whole new entry system to replace your current one.

Bah i hate to repeat myself but as I said i had my father run it threw the computers at his GM dealership and it came up with those 2 other remotes being compatible with my cars transmitter reciver. But thats not the problem I don't even get to the programmining the reciever step. The car is suposed to chirp 3 times and lock and unluck the doors when you jumper A to G on the OBDI connector under your dash. when i jumper them it doesnt chrip, lock or unlock or even enter keyless programming mode. I don't know if this is anything that could be a common problem ill probably have to take it down to his dealership and let the technictions check if the whole alarm system was dissabled or something.

Re: Keyless Entery BCM Prob

Hmm, well I'm out of ideas. Before you go take it in to get looked at, check in your glove box for a code that reads "AU0." All those codes tell you what options your car came with. I'd just double check to make sure that you do in fact have a keyless entry system. If you do, and still can't get it to work. Then I'd get it looked at. As for the remotes, if those other 2 do in fact work for you, then please let me know. I hate the looks of the regular one as well, and plus, mine hardly ever works now. Good luck man.

Problem solved the car don't have keyless entry its a fluke of a car, i pulled off the kickpanel and the lower dash the 2 spots where it could be located and there was nothing then i checked for where the wire harness's lead on another one and i checked if mine had any wires that lead there but there not there.

Serial # off the front window matches the door code, the clove box code and the engine code but doesnt have the options listed i think that its got the codes for the next car threw the plant or something.
