Use GL-4 in the tranny, on the se-r mailing list several people have been running into probablems with GL-5 tranny fluid. Something in the GL-5 is known to cause corrosion to some of the brass/bronze parts in the tranny

Thumbs up

I have used Mobil 1 ATF for the last 2yrs, No Problems at all. A little pricey, but worth the purchase. I use 5 quarts and change it myself.

tranny fluiid all or some?

If you change it yourself with only 5 quarts you must not be removing all the fluid? a simple drain and fill will leave several quarts of old fluid still in the tranny

Lightbulb

Yeah,,,The torque converter holds a few quarts, so unless you are dropping the pan for some reason like changing the filter 5 quarts is all you need. I had the pan dropped, replaced the gasket and the filter cleaned, the 1st time I made the change from standard fluid to synthetic.
