Its possible. The high failure solenoid/valves in the 4T65E tranny are the Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS) and Torque Convertor Control solenoid/valve (TCC-PWM). Also known issues with the valve body.

How many miles are on your GP?

You could try "Lubegard" tranny additive and see if it helps. It also helps drop the tranny temperature.

Re: hesitation

I have a 98 GTP w/85,000 miles. It seems to shift hard or hesitate between 1st and second only.

There are upshift solenoid/valves. Solenoid "A" controls the hydraulic pressure to 1 -2 and 3 -4 shifts. Its located on the valve body. The solenoids control shift valves inside the valve body which in turn operates the clutches, bands and sprags.

The best thing to do is have the PCM scanned for tranny related DTC error codes.

Re: hesitation

At what RPM does your car hes. Mine does it about 2500 -3000 rpm 1-2 shift only it seems to be worse with the air on. No codes stored. also seems to do it more when the car is warming up, when it gets fully warmed up it goes away.

Re: hesitation

Haven't really noticed at what rpm's but it's right at going into second. Mine only does it when the car is warm. If I get going in the morning it doesn't really do it. Seems pretty smooth. It's when it's warmed up it starts acting up.
