Ford GT 40

Here's an airbrush piece that I did a number of years ago. I wanted to do a complete set of all of the Ford specialty cars but only got a few done. Maybe when I get time I'll get back on that project.

Re: Ford GT 40

Woah! nice work! is that entirely airbrushed? Also, what kind of airbrush did you use?

Thanks guys,
Alex, I have several airbrushes but for this type of work I use a Paasche VL for the large areas and for the tight work I have a Paasche VJR. I learned on these airbrushes when I took some beginning classes years ago and have found them suitable for my work. I have often thought about buying an Iwata but with most of my work being done in colored pencil now I couldn't justify the cost just to see how it would work.

I use Iawata brushes. I like the way it feels in your hand .Your brush is the big thick one ..am I right? I like mine because its more like a pen. Do you prefer the dual action or single? I am not too familiar with the Paasche models . My buddy loves them because there big like a marker.I use mine mostly for painting custom bikes and t-shirts.

Re: Ford GT 40

nice photorealism there. airbrushes are a pain in the ass. you have great patience. or you are a masochist. a very skilled one (i am a masochist, by the way. that is why i have chosen to pursue art as a career).

anyway, the painting, i like it.

needs an environment. but not a lawn.

Re: Ford GT 40

Cool, I also have a VL. I got it a few months ago but haven't had much time to practice with it. The renderings that I've done so far have been mixed with colored pencil since I'm not experienced enough to get fine detail with the airbrush.
