that would be alot of time and money to spend on a sixer, do you have any internal mods planned, if not that turbo and nitrous would most likely kill the motor, and with all you want to do with weight reduction it wouldnt be a very cmofortable street car, or is it for drag racing?

Re: performance upgrades

sorta for both, but what internal mods could you suggest to help? and the weight reduction was just an idea, not really too worried about the weight so much. also i was thinking of a supercharger instead of a turbo. is there a big difference, which is more effective, and does anyone have a big preference? also can the sixer go from 5-speed to a 6-speed?

to put either a supercharger or a turbocharger on that car your looking at prolly investing over 8 grand by the time you are said and done with everything.

Go buy a real z28. If you want v-6 performance go buy a Grand National or a 1989 Turbo Trans Am.

unless you are a big fan of spending a ton of money to maybe run with a lightly modded 5.0 mustang.

Re: performance upgrades

i planned on spending like $15k on everything not including the car and whatever audio/visual upgrades. that is only an estimate of what i might spend, not actual.

man, throwing money at a car does not make it fast.

Make sure you have the right platform and engine to do this with. A NA v-6 is not a very good performance platform to whip out 15 grand.

to spend that much money on a six popper F-body is nuts.

you might be in the 11's

take an LT1, L98, LS1 1989 TTA and do the research and use 15 grand wisely on a them, you will be scared shitless.

in short, you are willing to spend 15k on something that a turbo Buick guy like me or an LS/LT1 guy would spend 5 grand on and smoke the car you want to build.

I am not trying to shoot down your dreams here man but, I hate to see someone spend alot of money for nothing.

Re: performance upgrades

did they even offer the 3.4L in 98????? and did they call it a Z28, and did they offer a five speed manual????

dude in all honesty i dont think you have a clue what car you have and what your drivetrain is. you need to find out your basics before you plan any modifications.

also i agree with hypsi in that if you dont have a reason to stick with a sixer (some of the guys on the forum love their six bangers and choose them because they are different) but if you are looking for performance, you would be better off selling your current car and buying a better starting point.

i dunno, but something about this tread dosnt make alot of sense......

Re: performance upgrades

i realize that we get novices in here from time to time, and i try to be patient with them, however from the time that ive been here, i have certain spider senses, and im smelling troll. its very rare to have a novice show up who gets that much wrong, and then as hypsi so elequently put it, put down a Gran Turismo style list of mods, and has 15k worth of money to spend, its just all a bit much to accept without it being a bit fishy.
