Need your advice on Tamiya F40 detailing

Have this kit (1/24 Tamiya Ferrari F40) and planing to do some detailing job on it. So i have some questions to you friends:

1)Did anyone use Studio 27 Photoetched parts for this Kit? How do these parts fit the kit details? Because I read about the problem with S27 photoetched parts for F50.

2) I am going to use mentioned above S27 parts, S27 seatbelts and SMS carbon fiber decals - can you tell me what else i can find for this model?

3)Maybe you can give me some assembling tips and hints for this kit if you had some experience with it?

From Russia with love.

And where might you have heard such vicious slander regarding S27's F50 set?

I'd have to say the S27 detail set for the F40 is no better than the one for the F50. I have it for my F40 build, but I expect I'm only going to use about 30% of it.

I expect I'll use parts 17, 19, 24, 25, 42, and 43. The rest really aren't improvements on the kit parts, or I'll be scratchbuilding.

I'm going to use SMS carbon fiber for the interior, and kevlar for the door insides and engine compartment bodywork.

As far as tips, you're welcome to use what you see as I build mine. (The link is on the bottom of my sig.)

Re: Need your advice on Tamiya F40 detailing

Braided line for plumbing the coolers, etc. Some cig pak foil for heatshelding.
I built mine way before the S27 set came out. I used PE badges, scripts and belts from R&M and others, and I scratch built the rear grill.
If I ever build another, I'll replace the side windows with smooth ones and find or make some better mirrors. I did'nt add any of the engine heat shields seen on most cars simply because they would have obscuried the details I added to the engine.

Part 44 overlays the kit part pretty well. I doubt it's an exact fit, but it sould go in ok with very little effort. I don't expect I'll use it on my build, as I think the mesh looks much too heavy (pictures I've seen of the F40 show that engine detail is somewhat visible through the rear screen. You won't see anything through the S27 part). It's a flat area, so a scratchbuilt option (maybe some nylon mesh) should work pretty well.

I found out that besides S27 set, there is much more expensive Acustion photoetced set. Is it much better or the same? Does it worth its money? Need your advice what to choose.

Re: Need your advice on Tamiya F40 detailing

Also, www.scaledetails.com now offers a 1/24 set for F-40 and Testarossa. It is not specific to the Tamiya kit (it's a scaled down version of something offered for large cale models) but there is a lot of parts present.
