Going with a C4, instead of Tremec

I figure with as much power as I will be putting down, and for streetablity, the auto would be the way to go.

I will be going with a reverse manual valve body, and a ratchet shifter with a hurst pistol shifter and N2O button on top. The Brits are not going to know what hit them.

Do you guys see any problems with going with a C4? I have a friend that priced me a new rebuild that can handle 1000hp for $400, and that is with the torque converter. For that price, I can afford 2 or 3.

Re: Going with a C4, instead of Tremec

1000hp in a stock C4 case? The price is right but I wouldnt depend on it to last very long. However I'm going with a C4. I want a forward manual valve body but have only seen a reverse and Performance Automatic seems to have the best thing for me right now. If anyone else has any suggestions for either of us I would like to hear them lol.

I figure if I get two of them, and the first one breaks, just swap it out. Then rebuild the other with better parts.

Go reverse manual, forward manual you have the risk of going into neutral and blowing your engine. If you go down (PRN123), there is not room for error.

With a 2.46 first its a lot better for me, since I will be running a 3.63 rear.

You mean 3.73?
My only fear of a rev manual vb is that I'm used to just bumbing the shifter up from 2nd to drive, I'd hate to downshift into first at 5500rpms in 2nd lol.

I'm all for C4 in drag racing but to make a C4 hold up to 1,000HP would cost way more than $400. No C4 rebuild is going to handle that unless you start putting in better hard parts.

I think your looking more at the 500HP range cause that is what is attainable with the normal upgrade of soft parts but not replacing to stronger planetary sets and drums, etc.

I meant 3.63s, after the tire height is brought into the equation.

Bumping, what if you acciently bump too far, and have no load on the engine when your flooring it. Accidents do happen, I would play it safe, it will not take you long to get use to it.

Really, $400

This guy knows C4s. I'll keep you guys updated on how it performs when I get it in.
