So, I managed a kill.

So I drive a Bone stock 2000 V6 Firebird (Automatic ), I'll setup the atmosphere for the evening.

I'm cruising around town with my roommate, watching our local PD pulling over or just harassing a bunch of cars in town (Lubbock). They tend to do a gauntlet run from 4th street down to 82nd. I watched a Civic get nailed by a cop and then some chick in a Prelude I was driving alongside started getting tailed by another black and white. She wasn't doing a damned thing! I get down to 82nd and start cruising the "strip" if you could call it that. Thinking about the Grand National and very sleek C5 Z06 I passed by at the apartments, imagining all the levels of ownage they would drop on my ass anywhere at any time.

I head back down 82nd West and get ready to line up for the north run on Slide rd. I pass a pretty mild celica and notice there is a pickup bearing up hard on my ass. I bump the throttle a little so I can get a clear shot of the next lane and get on Slilde. I finally figure it is a '87 Silverado with what sounds like maybe a 350 and a nice exhaust. I'm still running the speed limit and this guy just blows past me. There's a redlight up ahead and a car dividing the two open spots. The Silverado takes one up and I slide smooth into the next spot. I say to my roomie, dammit this guy is probably going to try and race me. I see there is water leading off the intersection, I say "Play time!" My roomie laughs because he knows I've got hard compound touring tires (Cheap pinko commie crap ) and they break traction so damned easy.

He hits the gas first, I take it easy because of the water and throttle up to 1/2 way bumping the gear up to 2nd so I can get the tires to calm down after getting wet. The Silverado is having such bad luck because he's keeping it throttled up and his transmission doesn't sound to be hooking up right. Probably a column shift auto. My tires connect first with a little tail dancing and pull a car and a half on him before I hit my brakes.

We come up to the next good redlight covered with probably 10-15 Sportbikes and one clean looking Civic. I'm kinda lined up on the door of the Civic and the Silverado is right on the Civics ass. I can't move up further than that because all the bikes are getting ready to turn into the next bar across the intersection. Okay, the bikes clear out, Silverado still on the ass of the Civic and then the guy guns it. I wait for the guy to clear the Civic on the left side and I hammer it down as soon as I see he's past the car. I pass him at 65 or 70 and then shut it down because I don't care to keep up at that in a 45. I'm laughing, as I told my roomie "I guess that's two kills." I watch my rearview mirror as the Silverado turns off about two blocks from the point that I slowed down, and heading back to 82nd.

I don't commonly race on the street, but I couldn't pass this one up. I had fun and the streets were empty, so it was perfect.

Cliffnotes:
WarShrike races a Silverado in his bone stock Firebird, drops 2 kills in a fun run.
Stalker Silverado 0/ Stalkee Firebird 2

Good kill and welcome to the street racing forums. I think you'll find that we're nicer yet more paranoid than in the other forums.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm not exactly paranoid, but it might grow on me as time passes.

Just two blocks away from home, I couldn't believe I saw this in town.

This Porka was sighted at the mall, I have immense respect for these cars and I decided I'd take a few shots. The owner was walking up just as I finished up the pics haha.
