Breakoff??

As I have said in some of my other threads the regulations are getting rediculous. Today I found out teams must cut their budget towards engine DEVELOPMENT by "90%"!! ( ) The US I'm glad they finally made a stand! Its getting out of hand if those tire restrictions weren't put in place this whole thing wouldn't have happened. There down grading to V8's! Whats next weigh handicapps!! Better yet lets just restrict them to 10 mph and call even! Should the drivers break off and start a new series? Lets here your imput....

Re: Breakoff??

I think they should 'breakaway' and have their own series, but it would need to have rules that everyone could follow(and Mr. Ecclestone and Mr Mosley would have to have NOTHING whatsoever to do with it). Perhaps they should have a single-make series, with a single manufacturer for chassis, engines, tyres and what not. Then, and only then, do I think we would see the real talent of these drivers. Can't wait for the upcoming A1GP series....

Re: Breakoff??

Now lets cut to the chase here and boil everything down to what is really important. We should just all write Bernie a nice big fat cheque and forget about the superfluous stuff like actual racing. Face it, money is all that matters in the "sport" these days.

Talking

There is a breakaway group already formed, but I can't recall the name. I would suspect that this will just speed it along. I am all for it. Never liked the rules set up by the FIA anyway. Max and Bernie can shove it. This is my present to the both of them.

I dont want to see them go to a single make because then there is no national/manufacturer pride/nobody to root for except drivers.I do however think they should go to spec tires so nobody can whine. Another major thing they need to get rid of is the one man FIA the sport needs to become an oligarchy or democracy where teams vote on their own fate; majority rules the rest just have to deal. Stick with the V10s and allow teams the ability to enigineer lighter, faster cars if the teams have the engineers the money and the resources why the hell not. Obviously there has to be a point wehere u have to limit the speeds of the cars in order to protect the drivers but let the teams decide that point and until that point let 'em build and let 'em race.

Yeah, I know there are heaps of them around, but I'm a big fan of them. Why? Because everyone has the same equipment, winners are decided through driver skill on the day, not by who has the biggest bankroll. Another plus, loads of overtaking, and tight races. Far more exicting than watching F1 cars circulating miles apart from each other IMO

Re: Re: Re: Re: Breakoff??

Has the FIA ever thought about the people who pay for it all and keep the sport running THE FANS! Why dont they ever ask what the fan wants maybe us fans dont want all these regulations and maybe we do want to see a more intense race, faster lap times and more competition. Maybe the fans like it if their fave drivers can stomp the pedal all the way down, overtake an opponent and not have to worry as much about tire wear because they CAN PIT and not have to worry about being penalized or a life threating blow OUT!

Hypothetical point of view - your driving

Half these rules are indangering the drivers everyone knows that carbon shards are bound to be lying around the track somewhere... That piece can sit in the tire and not necessarily blow out on contact, you know this but you can't pit due to regulations. Lets say its indy and Turn "13" is coming up what would you do.

Maybe you'll be better served watching Nascar and sprint car racing then if you'd rather see everyone driving the same cars with the exception of being painted different colors.

Re: Breakoff??

I love watching F1 occasionally, but don't follow closely.

But it seems that if the body that's helping to govern your races and make sure things are fair isn't doing its job anymore, scrap it and start over. So yes to breakaway.

Re: Breakoff??

I was very happy with the rules last year before they decided to not allow new engines/tires. They need to go back to last years rules.

Agreed but I would like to see just one race going all out no restrictions just for fun an to see what the teams can do.

Re: Breakoff??

I am pretty sure that they could do one thing very well with no rules-

Kill all of those overpaid drivers.

Michael and the older drivers would survive but Ralph would crash, Sato would overrev and blow the engine and montoya would just get black flaged just because hes montoya.
