OK, you forgot last year

OK, last year for my birthday (July 20th) I asked you guys to get me one small thing. But, NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
OK, here's another year. Can we get it done this year????????????

Here's what I want;

If you all chip in $5.00 or $10.00 we can get it done.

Jim, how about if we just send you an email birthday card......lol. BTW - You do know that this is a Pontiac Grand Prix forum.

While we're on the subject, I'd rather have this but too bad it doesn't really exist.

Re: OK, you forgot last year

Jim, I was going to ask the same thing, you would give up reputation as a Grand Prix man and jump to the Dodge ranks! I would have never believed that. Of course if everyone would like to pitch in and help out their friendly moderator I would be glad to get one of those for my birthday in October!!!!

Re: OK, you forgot last year

I think the GP is the greatest thing since Henry Ford throw the switch. But, with a 6.1 Hemi, and those looks. And the fact it would be a gift from my friends...........
And beside, I have always said, "I won't own a Chrysler product till they put a Hemi back in it, and they look a lot better". They seem to have keep their part of the deal.

Jim, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I think the new Chryslers look ugly. Reminds me of a car out of the fifties/sixties crossed with a coffin. How is that thing gonna look 5 years from now? Plus IMO it doesn't make any difference if they put the 426 Hemi back in, it will never maintain the overall value and resale of a similar GM let alone a Ford automobile over the years. Of course, the late sixties, early seventies Mopar supercars are excluded and thats a different issue. Just my 2 cents.

I disagree. Ford has nothing similar and the closest thing GM has is the STS at 20K more. I think the 300 has a nice niche cut out for itself, especially the performance models. The Charger looks good too. The SRT8 Hemi has more power (425 net vs. 425 gross)than the original 426 Hemi and is much more streetable. I must admit not liking the look but it grew on me.

Re: OK, you forgot last year

You have to remember, the first production Hemi's were designed to use in trucks. Well they did use them in trucks, the 1950 Dodge (the red ram Hemi).
As far as coffins go. The way half these people drive out there, they are all coffins. But atleast we get to pick the color of this one.
I have said since the new GTO has came out, that it's Bruce Lee sister...UG. Pontiac should take the Grand Prix, put rear wheel drive in it. AND then ask us the guys that will buy and drive it, what motor they should put in it. GM will soon only be number one in S. America, if they don't do something soon. They used to make cars like the 1966 Chevy II, with a 327, 350 HP. Car ran like a raped ape. Then they had the 1970 Nova, with a 454. Now a days, you get to pick what 6 cy. you want. They have a couple 8 cy. running around. Dodge and Ford have pickup trucks that will chase them down. Let's get back to the 60's and 70's.
We're keeping the old style GP's cause they look better then that new "turtle with braces". Get off your ass GM, and make us proud.
Class dismissed

I know school and pizzas. But, you wouldn't chip in to see an old man happy? I mean a 20 year woman would be nice. But what do you talk about in the morning? And they tire out too soon. No, has to be the car. I'll even let you ride in the back seat once.

If GM doesn't wake up soon, they might as well turn all their plants into WalMarts. If it weren't for the memorys of the GTO and 442 what have they done for us lately?

Re: Re: Re: Re: OK, you forgot last year

You all can have the Chrysler 300C SRT-8 and Dodge Chargers, etc. I'm banking on GM the next few years. If Chrysler's niche programs like the PT Cruiser is a sign for things ahead count me out. That car is a piece of garbage and spends more time at the dealer getting repaired than on the road.

I'd rather spend the money on a Caddy such as the CTS-V or better yet the Corvette Z06. At least they'll be worth something 4 to 6 years from now and will either beat or match the SRT-8.

BTW - $20K difference in price. I doubt that. The last I heard the SRT-8, 6.1 Hemi Sedan will go for $40K and up.

Plus I don't trust cars that run on 4 cylinders out of 8 to save on gas.

hey hey that PT piece i agree with naylor its junk..even with the 2.4L Turbo.. havent liked it since it came out.
but kid..you sure you can handle that thing above? doesnt it go like 240 or something? and maybe i'll throw some spare change at your cause, but no quarters. saving them for atlantic city in january

and as for the vette..well i'll still take the viper up until the 06 comes out. GM's finally catching up possibly too little too late

and as for your 4 cylinder dropout i guess you won't be buying a GXP now that GM has jumped on the bandwagon.

240, that's not fast. 70 MPH down US 19 is deadly.
PT's rock!!! No, wait. You throw rocks at them. Now I remember.
How the hell did this get started. Now I remember. Somebody looking for a birthday gift.
I think you should keep your change if your going there. Might want to take a lot of phone numbers with you, so you can get a ride home.

Hey Jim, the best birthday gift would be 10,000 shares of GM stock.
Get it while its down.

Personally, I believe that the big 3 are on their way back as far as performance, looks, handling and technology, etc. Even Ford is getting on the bandwagon with the Mustang Shelby GT500. The Japanese are going to have to hustle to keep up.

But if these new musclecars are only going to get 12 - 13 mpg in city then the switching between 8 to 4 cylinders may not be a bad idea. I don't care as long as it works. Supposedly there's a 15 to 20% improvement in fuel economy.

Just like politics, sometimes you have to switch party lines to get what you want. Different strokes for different folks.

Re: OK, you forgot last year

I don't care about gas mileage. I have a GTO in storage that get's 4 MPG. I have a GTX that get's 14 to 17 MPG. A GTP that gets 16. And they all burn prem. Give me a car that when you kick it in the butt, the tears run behind your ears.
I bought Chrysler stock for pennies. My exwife loved it when the court gave her every damn one. You know when I die, I want to come back as a good looking woman. Cause someone grandson is going to pay thru the noise.

Buy a gen?
