VR4 v.s Cobra

well, here's the deal. i have my 200lb friend in the car with me, and happen to see a mustang cobra come out of the same gas station as me, so i got in front of him and we both get on the freeway south I-5

as me and my buddy are just talking i see the what seemed to be a 97-98 cobra all black. so i get behind him and thinking he might punch it he doesnt so i just stay behind him, not paying much attention and talking to my buddy about our canadian trip we took earlier.
then out of knowere, he punches it, he see's an opening in front of the car in front of him, so he swings around it. without paying attention, i know that this guy has atleast a 2-3 second jump on me, so should i chase anyway?..............why not, downshift to 3rd and i'm gone, he put about 2 extra cars on me, on top of the distance he was already in font of me with, so a total of about 6 car lengths.
as i'm going, i see i'm not making a gain on him at all, that 3 seconds hurt me bad, but i'll try to fight it through. swerving through traffic is now getting a little dangerous, so i jump in the carpool lane. a couple seconds later and i'm at 125mph and redline, time to shift into 4th.
before i shifted to 4th he still holds his 6 car lengths, 4th gear hits and i finally start gaining on him, i pull a car length and a half on him at about 130mph, i can see, he's running out of juice, his topend isnt as killer as mine it seems, another half a car gained and now were down to 4 car lengths and i'm thinking "maybe its time to let off and call this one quits, its too dangerous" so though to the guy in the cobra he probably feels like he gained a victory, i was satisfied that i was able to keep hold of em, even after downshifting so late after he had.
then all of the sudden he swerves to the right and right infront of me is a car doing 65-70 and i'm doing 135mph with about what seemed to be 5 car lengths in front of me, i hit the brakes hard and the car slowed down right before i got within a car length of it, and as i see a opening to my right, took it and swerved around the car infront me at around 90mph.
slow down and my heart is pumping pretty hard.
about 3 miles down the road, the guy pulls next to me pacing me at 70mph and feeling like a champ, i just let off my bov right next to him, he looked over at me with a normal look and got off the next exit.

no kill, not really a loss..........just a good old fashion high way run

Re: VR4 v.s Cobra

Even the 97-98 cobras are 32v's. So their top-end isn't that bad. Anyway nice run.

Re: VR4 v.s Cobra

Yeah I understood what you meant. Mustangs aren't really notorious for their top end. The 4.6 does have alot more in the top end than the 5.0. The 5.0 had a ton in the low end though.

You should just do what I do when I race at those speeds...

I pretend I'm Neo from that scene in Matrix: Revolutions where he closes his eyes and hold his hand out... and wills the sentinals to move out of his way and subsequently blow up...

Yep... that's what I do... Seems to work.

Although, if you have a passenger they usually freak out at you closing your eyes at 130mph.

Not sure why that'd be though?

Do they not trust my ways with the Matrix?... I try to tell them that everything is going to peachy. But they insist that I open my eyes.

Pfft... Open my eyes and lose the race?

Re: VR4 v.s Cobra

i'll take it, but if you call it a fair race then your wierd lol

3 sec delay(atleast)
200lb passenger(205 to be exact)
and still reduced the car lengths

but, i'll take it as a death from you. its just gonna make me wanna kill a cobra with a fair race

no such thing as a fair race. if someone didn't think they had the edge no one would ever want to race.

Re: VR4 v.s Cobra

not true
again a lot of you dont know me very well

anyone who has been here long enough knows i'm very willing to take a loss.
since i've been on this board i've lost to a c5 corvette, 300zxtt, rx-7(more like a tie) and a integra.
and for some peoples enjoyment(maybe redneck or carrrnut remembers) i lost to a 200sx.......not really but technically i did
and not at all afraid to admit defeat, i'm knowere close to the fastest guy on the street.

most of my races the other guy hits it first. and theres nothing wrong with a minor delay, of course it takes time for you to shift. but a count to 3 in your head a full 3 sec is a whole lot of time to loose.
i wont take it as a loss from dampachi

only civicracer
